Come see--it's BYOD!

Bring Your Own Device Classroom Initiative

Dear Fourth Grade Parents,

I am very excited to announce that our school will be taking on a new technology-driven curriculum for this upcoming school year. While your students are probably rarely seen without their mobile or tablet devices constantly in their hands at home, we are preparing to keep this going during school hours too, but all for the purpose of learning! Our initiative is called BYOD or Bring Your Own Device! This means that students will have the opportunity to learn while using their own devices to connect and interact with digital lessons. This includes mobile phones, laptops, and tablets.

We will be using different applications to immerse students into a creative new realm of learning. Students will each have their own Edmodo account for our class. This is where they will be able to see all of the assignments and tasks for our course and connect with myself and each other. I have several other interactive applications set for our lessons in different subjects. It's sure to be an engaging and fun classroom experience.

To get a head start and help prepare your students for this endeavor, I recommend familiarizing yourself with your devices and educational technology. It would also be great to go over "Digital Citizenship" with your students to make sure they understand responsible online usage before we begin at the start of the school year.

I hope both you and your children are ready for this exciting initiative! It is going to be a wonderful experience for us all, and I am looking forward to beginning our journey!

Thank you,
