Weekly Newsletter
Last Wednesday, our own EC Surf Team was honored at the Oceanside City Council meeting. Coach Adam Leste and a few of our amazing surfers are pictured with Mayor Esther Sanchez where they proclaimed January 26th as "El Camino High School Scholastic Surf Team Day".
Several of the surf team members are also on our girls water polo team and, because they had a water polo game on Wednesday evening, some of our surfers were not able to make the City Council meeting. And although her schedule is very busy running our city, the Mayor graciously agreed to join our entire surf team for lunch on this Monday. Thank you to Mayor Sanchez and the rest of her cabinet for always supporting and honoring our scholars here in the city of Oceanside!
Schoolwork & COVID-Related Absences
We know the COVID-19 virus continues to negatively impact many of our scholars and families. If your child has tested positive for COVID-19 and needs to miss school, please encourage your student to check their Google Classrooms and complete the work assigned by their teachers. We do recognize that students are affected in different ways - some will have very little to no symptoms when they test positive while others have a very difficult experience. This is why teachers are ensuring assignments are in the Google Classroom so your child doesn't "fall behind". And don't forget, if your student has any questions related to the assignment, they can always email their teacher for clarification.

COVID-19 Group Tracing
We’ll notify an entire class, team, etc. if they were exposed to a COVID-positive individual.
Potentially exposed students, regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status or prior infection, should get tested for COVID-19 with at least one diagnostic test obtained within 3-5 days after last exposure and no more than once weekly if you have received multiple notices of exposure(s).
Please use this link to the ECHS short form to submit positive testing results. If you student is negative, you do NOT need to upload their results.
Potentially exposed students who participate in testing may continue to take part in all aspects of K-12 schooling, including sports and extracurricular activities, unless they develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.
When students are exposed to a COVID-19 positive person in a school setting, OUSD will notify parents/guardians in writing of the exposure. All students may remain in school unless they are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive.
Remember to keep students who are experiencing symptoms or who test positive at home. If your student tested positive for COVID-19, the recommendation is to test on day 5 before returning to campus.
The San Diego County public health documents and decision trees, to which OUSD adheres, have been updated with this new information; OUSD will implement the changes effective immediately.
Remember, ECHS Truax theater lobby is one of the district COVID-19 testing sites. For additional testing locations or vaccination information, please visit our COVID-19 Plan site.
