Heritage Guild of Collin County Monthly News, February 2016

Busy, Busy! Volunteers at Work!

Our volunteers are second to NONE! 14 people gave more than 50 hours to Chestnut Square in 2015, and 8 of them gave more than 100! All told, volunteers logged some 10,000 hours giving tours, cataloging and repairing items in our collection, cleaning, serving teas, entertaining school children and Farmers Market patrons, doing office work and maintenance, and repairs, repairs, repairs!

Nine groups are regularly scheduled to work, and one group - the Hands N Hammers of First United Methodist Church, has performed hundreds of hours of building and reparation work on our buildings. We had a workday with Ernst & Young of Dallas, who brought 30 employees out to build a fence and re-plane a sloping sidewalk.

We can't forget our board members and their service, and have to say thanks and a fond farewell (for now) to Pat Rodgers and Tim Baker. They continue to be involved as we ask them!

To all who have been involved over the years, and continue to give your valuable time and talents, we cannot say THANK YOU enough!

A Volunteer At Rest

A longtime member, supporter and volunteer, Dot Dozier, wife of former Mayor Don Dozier, passed away in January. We were honored with several memorial contributions, which will go toward renovations of Dot's beloved Dulaney House. The Craft Guild, of which Dot was a member, is a weekly fixture at Chestnut Square, and Dot put in many hours of volunteer time here. We will miss her greatly.
