What Are We Learning This Week??

This week we have the librarian visiting for the last time this year. We will continue and wrap up our study of insects and Eric Carle books. We will play a math game to draw caterpillars and make hats to celebrate Eric Carle's most famous book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Last week we made grouchy ladybugs (remember when they come home they were supposed to make a grouchy face and tell me something that makes them grouchy) and they are hanging up in our hallway and getting lots of rave reviews!

We are reviewing the number 10 and all of the letters and sounds.

I have been completing assessments this past week as well and I am so happy with the incredible growth the kids have made throughout this school year! If you have any questions about the assessment or next year let me know!

Speech-Language Group- May 4-8, 2015

This week, we will follow directions by walking on a line and then identifying the letters/sounds q, y, w, u. We will read the book Mommy Mine by Tim Warnes and label animals, define descriptive words, and identify rhyming words. We will practice the nursery rhyme “Jack Be Nimble”.

Jack Be Nimble

Jack, be nimble;

Jack, be quick;

Jack jump over

the candlestick.

Other Information.....

Hello Parents! We are fast approaching the end of our preschool year…it has been such a pleasure to educate and care for your children! The end of the school year means warmer weather. Warmer weather means lining up outside at the start of our preschool day. Please be sure to remind your child of parking lot safety, as our lot is exceptionally busy during pick up/drop off times. We expect children to use walking feet and to be escorted by an adult to/from their line outside. This is also a good time to remind everyone of the importance of following Nebraska laws for child restraint in vehicles. Be sure your child is properly buckled in a car seat that is appropriate for their height/weight, and make sure they ride in the back seat! Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment at the Early Childhood Center! Enjoy these last few weeks of preschool! Kristy Feden, Early Childhood Supervisor
