Diary of a Young Girl
Anne Frank
Anne Frank went into hiding during the Holocaust and wrote a diary for the two years that she was in hiding.

The Frank Family Backround
After Otto and Edith Frank settled in Frankfurt, Germany, they had Margot Frank in 1926. In 1929, Anne was born. In March of 1933, when Germany became dangerous, the Franks decided to move to Amsterdam. When the Nazi party started to get more dangerous, Otto Frank started thinking about going into hiding. In July of 1942, the Franks, rather suddenly, went into hiding in the Secret Annex in Amsterdam.
In blue is the Secret Annex in the back part of the business building.
"Not being able to go outside upsets me more than I can say, and I'm terrified our hiding place will be discovered and that we'll be shot."

Above is a tour going through the Secret Annex. They show Otto Frank's office, the secret bookcase leading to the annex, Anne and Fritz Pfeffer's room, the Frank family's room, the Van Pels' room, Peter van Pels' room, and the attic.
I chose this video because it gives the viewer a view of what life was like in the cramped, Secret Annex and what the rooms were like. Keep in mind that they weren't allowed out of the building for two years and had to keep quiet during business hours.

Margot and Anne both died of typhus in spring of 1945 in Auschwitz.
