ISTEP Info
The first round of ISTEP testing begins on the week of February 26. We try to finish everything during that first week. The following week is used to test students who were sick the first week.
Let's be honest. No one is fond of ISTEP (students, parents, teachers), but the State makes this something that we must take seriously. Schools receive State grade each year, determined directly from the ISTEP results.
So we ask for your help in the following ways. If at all possible, have your child at school that first week. In addition, making sure they get enough sleep and have a healthy breakfast gives them the best chance to do well. Finally, please encourage them to do the best they can. On announcements I tell them not to worry about it, but to use it as an opportunity to show what you know. Thank you for your help with this.
Lunch Prices
You may have seen in the newsletter that we raised the prices of lunches by 10 cents starting on January 3. I want to explain why this happened. We were informed by the State this fall that our prices were too low and they had to be raised. They even determined the price increase and the day that it started.

7th and 8th girls basketball
The 8th grade girls came out on top with a final score of 22-20. Being down most of the game by a few and to come out on top proves they wanted to win and their hearts were in it. Scoring for us were Emma Weberding with 10pts, Chelsea Robertson with 6pts and making most as free throws, and Aylssa Wanstrath, Faith Tekulve, and Lilly Wonnell all scoring 2pts each also. We played some great defense! Great game ladies.

The 8th grade Lady Cards had an amazing game pulling off a 34-16 win. They had a comfortable lead by the half and we were able to really use this to work on plays and try new things out. Scoring for SLS were Emma Weberding with 13pts, Alyssa Wanstrath with 8pts, Chelsea Robertson with 6pts, Faith Tekulve with 5pts, and Ava Allen with 2pts.
