Varsity Girls
December 4, 2018- The Varsity Girls Basketball team opened up district playing at Floresville. After a slow start in the first half the girls used their smothering defense to take control of the game in the 3rd quarter and never looked back winning by a score of 37-25. The girls were led offensively by MaKenzee Decock with 9 points. Leading the team in rebounds was Kamryn Griggs. Having a great defensive game was Paityn Kinnett who finished with 7 steals and 4 blocks. It was a total team effort and a great way to start district. This brings the Panthers record to 12 - 9 overall and
1 - 0 in district. The girls will be at home against Southside this Friday which will be huge game! Come out and support the girls on Friday.
November 29-December 1, 2018- The Medina Valley Girls Basketball team competed in the Hondo Tournament last Thursday - Saturday. On Thursday, the girls opened up pool play vs. San Antonio Christian. Though they battled the entire game the girls came up short by a score of 52-65. Leading the way for the Panthers were Clarissa Ortega with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Ileana Morales with 10 points. The girls finished up pool play taking on San Antonio Lanier and playing their best game of the season thus far winning by a score of 71-47. Players of the game were Paityn Kinnett with 16 points, 5 assists, and 8 steals along with Kaylyn Persyn with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Addie Guinther with 13 points. The girls opened up bracket play on Friday taking on Harlan losing by a score of 41-48. Player of the game was Paityn Kinnett with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. In the following game, the girls took on rival Uvalde winning in dominating fashion by a score of 56-22. Leading the way for the Panthers were Michayla Chaffin with 9 points and MaKenzee Decock with
6 points and 6 rebounds. The girls closed out the tournament on Saturday winning the Consolation Championship vs San Antonio Jefferson. The girls opened up the 1st half leading 30-12 and never looked back winning by a final score of 49-36. The girls were led by Addie Guinther with 10 points, Michayla Chaffin with 10 points, and Paityn Kinnett with 11 points. This tournament finished out the non-district schedule and the Panthers currently have an overall record of 11 wins and 9 losses. T
November 27, 2018- The varsity girls basketball team had their first home game of the season finishing them with a victory over Eagle Pass High School by a score of 41-25. It was a total team effort with smothering defense the entire game. The Panthers were led by Paityn Kinnet who finished the night with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals. MaKenzee Decock had a good all-around game with 7 rebounds and 3 steals and Ileana Morales finished the game with 9 total points. This brings the Panthers overall record to 8 wins and 7 losses.
JV
December 4, 2018- The JV girls basketball team opened up district play with the Floresville Jaguars. After a slow start, they found their defensive game in the second half and beat them 45-26. Amaya Cosper, Essence Cummings and Analeise Zapata dominated the boards on both ends of the floor. Leading scorers for the night were: Clara Arroyos with 17 points, Madison Guerrero with 6, Audrey Guinther and Corina Castenon with 5.
November 27, 2018- The JV team moved to 7-0 on the season as they defeated the Eagle Pass Eagles 58-20. Amaya Cosper, Analeise Zapata and Essence Cummings lead the team in rebounds as they dominated them both offensively and defensively. Leading scorers for the night were Madison Guerrero with 18, Clara Arroyos with 15 and Corina Castenon with 9.
Freshmen
December 4, 2018- The Freshmen girls basketball team headed to Floresville for their first district game and came back with a big win. After a buzzer beater shot from Morgan Henrich to tie the game, the girls headed into overtime and dominated the Jaguars, ending with a score of 48-38. Leading the girls with points was Madison Sotelo tallying 13, followed by Morgan Henrich and Kylie Mutz each with 8. The girls will have their first home district game this Friday against Southside. Make sure to come out and support your lady Panthers!
November 27, 2018- The Freshman Girls Basketball team took on Eagle Pass Monday night, earning a big win in their first home game of the season. Leading the group for the night in scoring was Natalia Gatica with 10 points, followed by Priscilla Lopez with 9, Hailey Franke with 8, and Angela Alonzo, Emily Hecker, and Kylie Mutz each finishing with 6 points a piece. Great job ladies!
Varsity Boys
December 4, 2018- The varsity basketball team played Fredericksberg, 4A number 25 ranked team, on Tuesday night and won 72-69. Down 16 at one point the team battled back thru the second half to pull off a great team victory. Sam Chaplin and Brayden Haney both scored over 20 points. James Gipson and Aaron Sotelo had hustle plays all night. The overall record now stands at 5-4.
November 29-December1, 2018- The boys varsity Basketball team competed at the Austin Anderson tournament. The team finished 1and 3. First Game was a loss to Fort Bend Dulles by 9. The second game was against Rockwall, 6A number 3 in the state, down 1 at half-time ended up losing by 18. Host Austin Anderson won by 25 and Game four the team beat San Antonio Holmes by 23. Sam Chaplin named to all-tournament team averaging 27points per Game in tournament play.
The team is now 4-4 on the season.
JV Boys
December 4, 2018- The JV boys basketball team played the Fredericksburg Bullies on Tuesday. Both teams played hard and they were a tough opponent. We ended up with a loss and will go back to work to get ready for the start of district play. Come out in support as the boys travel to Uvalde next Tuesday.
Freshmen Boys
November 29-December 1. 2018- The freshmen basketball team played in the Somerset Tournament. In the first game the Panthers took on the Floresville Tigers. It was a strong performance from the freshmen boys with the Panthers prevailing 43-31. Scoring leaders were Joe Tarvin with 12 points and Jake Herb with 10 points. In the second game of the day the Panthers dominated the Carrizo Spring Wildcats 64-35. It was a great team effort led by Joe Tarvin's 18 points and Ace Anderson's and Collin McCauley's ten points each. Eight different Panthers scored in the game. Joe Tarvin was named tournament MVP and Ace Anderson a member of the all-tournament team.

8th Grade Girls
November 29, 2018- Our Panthers hosted the Alamo Mules on Thursday night. It was a fast paced, exciting game. The B game was aggressive and it pushed our girls to higher level of play. The girls were able to get good looks down the court that resulted in some amazing shots. Great team effort and unselfish play contributed to the Panthers B team win with a score of 22-19.
Our A teams did a great job as well, played hard and with a lot of heart but came up short. Their final score was 44-37. High scorers for night were Sierra Estrada and Haylee Hurtado 14 points, Kellie Harlow 7 points, Iliana Garcia, Paiten Trowbridge, and Vivian Ortega 4 points, Payton Keller, Jenna Boehme, Jordan Blackwell, Sara Dailey, Bella Perales, and Julia Guzman with 2 points. Good luck to our girls as they travel to Bandera to meet the Bulldogs. Go Panthers Go!!!
November 15-2018- The Panthers B team traveled to Uvalde to meet up with the Uvalde Lobos on Thursday. They dominated from the tip off with Julia Guzman scoring a quick 6 points. The girls continued to work together and look down low to our posts who did a good job. The final score was 31-9. High scorers were Julia Guzman and Jordan Blackwell with 8 points, Sierra Estrada with 6 points, Sara Dailey with 5 points and Iliana Garza 4 points.
The 8A team continued where the 8B team left off and did a good job as they beat the Lobos 32-27. High scorers for the night were Paiten Trowbridge 10 points, Vivian Ortega 9 points, Kellie Harlow and Haylee Hurtado 6 points and Jenna Boehme with 1 point. Good luck on the 25th of Nov. as the girls host the Alamo Heights Mules. Go Panthers Go!!
7th Grade Girls
November 8, 2018- The 7th Grade Girls B Basketball Team played their first ever middle school game against Boerne South. The girls are still learning how to play the game and will continue to work hard in practice to develop the fundamentals needed to play. The Panthers lost but one area that was recognize was the girls played better defense the second half to prevent Boerne South from scoring as many points. The Panthers will continue practicing to prepare for next week game against Uvalde. Go Panthers!
Last night the 7th Grade Girls A Basketball Team played their very first middle school game against Boerne South. The girls game out strong the first half and were utilizing the plays taught to them and were out rebounding Boerne but it was not enough and the Panthers lost. Leading the team were Myranda Perales with 6 points, Danielle Reza 3 points, and Makenzie Kennedy 2 points. The Panthers will work on defense, passing down court, and their form shooting to prepare for Uvalde next week. Good Luck Girls!!
8th Grade Boys
November 29, 2018- Both 8th Grade BB Teams played at Alamo Heights Middle School The effort & fight was much improved from the previous game, but the outcome was not what we wanted. Both teams showed much improvement. Good Luck to both teams this week vs. Bandera Middle School. The boys played their 2nd Home game this Thursday. The B Team plays at 5pm, the A-Team at 6:30, come out to the game & support.
Coach Denzer would like to thank all the parents for their support during the 1st away game of the season. Lastly, Coach Denzer would like to thank Coach Schott & Mrs.Newton for their help keeping the books & stats.
November 15, 2018- Congratulations to the 8th Boys Basketball A-Team for beating Uvalde with a score of 58 to 47. Their overall team effort the last 3 quarters of the game is something to build on & be proud of. The A Team was down by 12 points & fought all the way back to take the lead & hold on to it till the final buzzer for the victory. The A Team caused 30+ turnovers & rebounded as a team on the offensive & defensive glass. 2 players lead the team with double digits in scoring.
Congrats to the 8th Boys Basketball B - Team for a hard fought effort! As a team we improved & are looking forward to the next game.
Coach Denzer would like to thank all the parents, Coach Neely & other coaches for their support during the 1st home game of season. Also, Coach Denzer would like to thank Coach Valdez for her athletic training assistance. Lastly, Coach Denzer would like send out a super thanks to the nightly janitor crew for their help in cleaning up the gym after the game.
