Principal's Message
This last week of school ends on Tuesday, June 15th at 12:10pm as we say goodbye to the 2020-2021 school year and hello to summer. It has been a time of new experiences and changes throughout the year that created additional stress both at school and at home. As we look back on this past year, I know we learned more about ourselves, what we are capable of and the different ways we can successfully do things. I saw several examples of that in what our staff was able to teach in three unique learning settings (remote, hybrid, face to face with some space), the increased use of technology by staff and students, and in the different ways students learned and showed their understanding of the material.
This summer gives all of us an opportunity to reset and recharge as we anticipate a more typical school year for 2021-2022. My hope is that our staff, students, and parents are able to do just that and are ready for the first day of school on September 2nd.
This final newsletter of the year has some information about different activities to end the school year and summer events (e.g. summer school). Additional updates about events taking place this summer and what to expect next fall will be posted on our website.
Stay healthy. Stay safe. Go Trojans!

T-3 This Week
High School Summer School - Credit Retrieval
This year summer school will take place on campus. High school summer school is about giving the student an opportunity to make up credits in a self-paced environment. Summer school will take place from June 21st to July 23rd. School will run from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday. There will be no school on July 5th.
Summer Credit Retrieval at the high school is for making up the whole class, that was not passed prior second semester of the 2019/20 school year, or an incomplete where the teacher stated the need to repeat the class for credit.
The credit retrieval classes are self-paced. Once students have completed the computer and written work for the class, they are done with that class and can move to the next. Once the student completes all the courses they need to make up, they are done with summer school and do not need to attend anymore. Students can earn back multiple classes if they put the time and work in, since it is a self-paced program.
This year the district is waiving the fee for summer school, so that all who need to make up credits will have the opportunity. If you have questions please email me at wkurz@meridian.wednet.edu.
