HYBRID REMINDERS
As we transition to the hybrid model on Monday, we will meet it with great success because we are all prepared, we all have experience, and we are all committed to making it successful. As we begin the next phase of hybrid, let’s celebrate that we are all much farther along in understanding what this means for everyone involved! As we enter the next phase of hybrid, below you will find some tips and reminders we would like to share with our families.
Vocabulary
Synchronous Learning- online or distance education that happens in real time, often with a set class schedule and required login times.
Asynchronous Learning- does not require real-time interaction; instead, content is available online for students to access when it best suits their schedules, and assignments are completed to deadlines.
Distance Learning Wednesdays
These are synchronous learning days when your student should follow the Wednesday- Distance Learning bell schedule and attend all of his or her classes via Google Meet during the designated times.
Distance Learning Days (Cohort A: Monday/Tuesday and Cohort B: Thursday/Friday)
Students do not follow a bell schedule on asynchronous distance learning days. Please note some teachers may offer live streaming from their classrooms but this is not required. Teachers may also post recordings of lessons for students to view. CMS teachers will continue to use their professional knowledge and experience to select instructional strategies and platforms that work best for their students to master individual standards. Work will be posted in Google Classroom by 8:00 am each day for Distance Learning cohort students.
Student Meals on Distance Learning days
CMS students in the hybrid learning model will receive meals to take home on Tuesday or Friday, including some items that may be frozen and will need to be refrigerated when the child arrives home from school. Please visit the Student Nutrition website for proper heating instructions: https://bit.ly/3mMzCZQ.
Expectations
Students will have access to instruction and assignments by 8:00 am daily. Assignment due dates will either be 11:59 pm or 8:30 am and will be posted on the assignment and on the google calendar. Teachers are available to students during office hours and during planning on the Wednesday Distance Learning bell schedule.
Communication
If you need any help during the Hybrid model, please start with the person closest to the issue. For example, if it is an instructional issue, please start with the teacher then move to a counselor or administrator as needed. Below is a simplified “who to contact” chart that may be helpful.
