Principal's Message

To our GMS parents and guardians,

Happy New Year! The staff at GMS hope you all had a great break and are looking forward to a successful and inspiring new year in 2023.

Our first few weeks back to school is coming to an end and we continue to learn together and progress towards their goals. The first term is complete and report cards came out on December 15th. Please continue to keep up to date on your child’s progress by having conversations with them and reaching out to the teacher(s) if needed.

As we move forward into 2023, one of our biggest goals remains to help all students feel welcome, respected, accepted and safe. We continue to strive to motivate our students to find success in all aspects of school.

We are happy that many extra curricular activities will continue to happen at our school weekly in 2023 (ex. athletics programs, school clubs, leadership and hot lunch). If you have not had a chance already, please follow us. The school webpage (https://gms.sd23.bc.ca) is another great place to find information, such as school supply list, school and divisional updates, student code of conduct, calendar of events, and much more.

We continue to take pride in our relationships with parents/guardians and encourage partnership in the important job of educating the children of this community. We are happy to share that we had full participation and elected a new PAC council for GMS. Names of our new PAC executive are below:

  • President - Denay Williams
  • Vice President – Sean O’Gorman
  • Treasurer – Leath Strench
  • Secretary – Jen Zurbrigg
  • Second Signer – Mat Zurbrigg
  • Members at Large – Andrea Spence + Andrea Scott

We look forward to another great month at GMS! For any urgent issues or needs, please contact the office at 250-870-5176.
