Today is the Science Fair!
Our young scientists have eagerly delivered their projects to the cafeteria. During the day, they'll be discussing their projects with our Science Fair judges and viewing their classmates' projects too.
All are invited to attend our Science Fair this evening, 6:00-8:00pm:
- 6:00pm: View the science projects
- 6:30pm: Opening Remarks & Science Show by Eric Energy
- 7:30pm: Award Ceremony
For those of you who've experienced our Science Fair, you know it's a huge effort. It wouldn't be possible without the time, talent and energy of Dina Goldman and Jessica Cleck. Hearts Up to them and our army of volunteers that makes this event run seamlessly.
Eric Energy's Show: Spark Attack
A show that focuses on electricity, sound and light. The scientist will perform experiments about circuits, sound waves and different kinds of light. The kids will see things like indoor lightning, a voice changer and a real laser light show.
Sensory-Friendly Space
Students with sensory sensitivities are welcomed for early admission, 5:30-6:00pm. This is an opportunity for priming and getting accustomed to the space and viewing the Science Fair projects prior to the large crowds and increased noise.
The Media Center will remain open until 7:45pm for continued support as necessary.
We hope to provide a sensory-friendly environment for all of our remaining community events at BPES this year. If you are interested in helping with this effort, please email Randee Wilding at bpesptapres@gmail.com.
PLEASE NOTE: Our sensory-friendly space is not an overflow area. Please be courteous of the members of our community who need this space and use it in the way it is intended.
"A Night with the Stars"
We hope you enjoyed this year's Sweetheart Dance "A Night with the Stars." Please take a moment to complete our two question survey at: https://forms.gle/aiK114r3scLrVyep7.
Hearts Up to Angie Dutton and Lisa Cochran, our Sweetheart Dance Co-Chairs, for rolling out the red carpet for our families! Special thanks to our volunteers and Heidi Shoemaker for making our first Sensory-Friendly Space possible. What a memorable night for all!
If you have any pictures from the dance you'd like to share, please email them to bpesptapres@gmail.com.

BPES Leo Club Annual Food Drive
The Bushy Park Leo Club is sponsoring a canned food drive from Monday, February 24th until Friday, March 27th to benefit the Maryland Food Bank. Did you know that approximately a half million people in Maryland live in poverty? The Maryland Food Bank is hoping to gather 20 million pounds of food to give away this year and we would like to help them.
This year we will be donating the food to a satellite location of the Maryland Food Bank located at Glenwood United Methodist Church. We would appreciate your kindness in helping to donate the items listed on the flier below. The collection boxes are located in each team’s pod area.
NO GLASS, NO FOOD THAT CAN SPOIL AND PLEASE NO EXPIRED FOOD.
Thank you for helping out Marylanders in need!

March Membership Drawing
"Salam Alaikum means 'Peace be upon you.' It is the greeting that Muslims around the world use to say 'hello' and 'good-bye.' International music sensation Harris J has taken that greeting and created a call to action.
Spread peace on the earth...
Treasure the love, let it surround us
Always be kind, always remind one another
Peace on the earth every day
Using the lyrics to the hit song of the same name, and accompanied by heartwarming illustrations that depict the power of paying it forward, this sweet and charming picture book celebrates kindness and community." B&N Overview
The PTA will be doing a drawing from all family memberships at the end of March for Salam Alaikum: A Message of Peace, by Harris J and Ward Jenkins.
Congratulations to the The George Family for winning the February membership drawing of the book I Walk with Vanessa.
