Making History!
Throughout the past month, our students have experienced language learning, art, music, robotics, entrepreneurship, computer science, mathematical, historical, and scientific exploration, novel studies, writing, guest speakers, and so much more! In addition to academics, we have spent the first few weeks of school getting to know one another and establishing norms and expectations for our Barton Explorers.
All students have been issued district-provided laptops, and we are working tirelessly with the district to make certain students have access to needed platforms. Technology will not replace the hands-on learning taking place at Barton. It will be used to enhance learning and provide a tool for students who may need access to technology to work from home. If you have instructional questions, please reach out to your child's teacher (or teachers). We have a dynamic staff of teachers who are committed to providing the best education possible to your child. They will be more than happy to assist you should you have questions.
Our PTO has also been a tremendous help to us through our reopening. They have supported our students and teachers by purchasing snacks for extended care, faculty workroom snacks, club supplies, umbrellas, spirit wear sales, and assisting us with putting together equipment. If you haven't joined PTO, please consider doing so today! https://my.cheddarup.com/c/barton-academy-pto-membership-parents
We have had an amazing start through our historic reopening, and this is only the beginning!

9th Grade Barton Blazer and Dome Visit
Our 9th grade students were afforded the opportunity to gain a new perspective by overlooking Mobile from the Barton dome.
As student leaders, our 9th graders were gifted the Barton Blazer and put them on for the first time for a picture commemorating the event overlooking Mobile’s skyline.
This activity symbolized our #BartonExplorers vision for students to recognize the world of opportunity before them and aligned with our Q1 school-wide theme: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
