Message From Ms. Riddle
Hello Lion Families!
It was great to see so many families out at conferences! Quarter one is all about identifying baselines (both academically and socially/emotionally) and putting in place the building blocks to support the next phase of growth. Hopefully each of you walked away with important data points and suggestions to help you partner with us throughout Quarter Two. We will be celebrating the accomplishments from Q1 next week Wednesday and Thursday with awards for attendance, academics, character, and career focused activities. Scholars that did not have a conference and don't have one scheduled, will be held out of class on Monday until a conference is scheduled.
Field Trips This Week

Awesome Academics
Reading is not only fun and informative, but it is also one of the top ways to build the vocabulary of your scholar. Don’t forget about the 15 minutes of required reading each night for homework. It’s a game changer!
MyPath Super Stars
Shout out to Ms. Swanson and Mrs. Brown’s crew for having an average of 6 reading MyPath lessons completed in the last 7 days!

Character Challenge
Create a space where your family can see emotion words or faces in 1 place near an entrance of a room (like the kitchen or the living room). Each time someone walks through the entrance this week (or longer!), have them share the emotion they are feeling in a creative way. You could point, dance, stare, do charades, etc.
Middle School: It was awesome getting back to full middle school assemblies. Dr. Cole had a powerful message with our scholars to really explain what it means to be a TLA Lion.
High School: I AM BACK!!!!!! I loved being a part of your assemblies again. We had a fun/creative activity that both groups thrived in. Being able to work together and navigate through the “landmines” (character game) was amazing to see.
High School Scholars: We recently changed the passing time from three minutes back to five minutes, per your request. We need to report to class on time and be sure to notify your teachers if you are leaving the class.
Monthly Attendance Incentive
This year at TLA we have an exciting new attendance incentive! Our schoolwide attendance goal is that scholars will maintain an attendance rate of 95% or higher. Each month, scholars who achieve this goal are entered into a drawing where they have the opportunity to win some great prizes that include donations from our community partners as well as some special incentives from staff including things such as lunch with a staff member or getting to sit in the teacher's chair for a day, to name a few. We will also be doing quarterly drawings for bigger prizes. Studies confirm a powerful link between attendance and academic success in school so please help support your scholar being present at school each day!

Breakfast and Lunch Information
Starting Monday, November 14th, TLA is moving to a digital breakfast and lunch menu display called Nutrislice. The software will provide a detailed daily, weekly and monthly menu for all age scholars. This interactive software includes access to nutrition labels, real-time updated menus and the ability to filter food by allergens (eg. Wheat, dairy, nuts, etc). TLA’s Wellness Policy is to ensure that we are promoting a healthy school environment through the Nutrition Program.
