Bosses
Bosses are large, aggressive, resilient enemies that offer a substantial challenge to players. Defeating bosses is usually instrumental in advancing the game in some way. Each has its own particular way of being summoned, and warning messages appear whenever one is about to appear. When the boss appears, its own special boss music will play, indicating that the fight has begun, along with a message saying it has arrived. Defeating a boss concludes with a congratulatory message and several items. Most of the bosses can pass through blocks of all types.
Skeletron Prime
Skeletron Prime is a Hardmode Mechanical Boss which is essentially a harder version of Skeletron. It is summoned with the Mechanical Skull at night. Players have until dawn to defeat it. Skeletron Prime can also randomly spawn at dusk in Hardmode if it has not yet been defeated.
The Twins
The Twins is a Hardmode Mechanical Boss which is essentially a harder version of the Eye of Cthulhu The Twins are two separate flying entities connected by a tendril, each with its own attack pattern and life count.
The Moon Lord
The Moon Lord is a Hardmode,post-Golem boss summoned by defeating all four Celestial Towers from the Luner Events, or by using a Celestial Sigil. The Moon Lord spawns about one minute after either of the prerequisites are met. It serves as Terraria's "final boss".
Events
Events (also known as Invasions) are temporary occasions where varieties of special enemies spawn, most at elevated spawn rates, even near NPCs, and attack players. Some events can occur randomly during gameplay, while others can be triggered via certain summoning items or special circumstances. Events spawn their own unique enemies not seen during ordinary gameplay, which can in turn drop unique items that are only obtainable within the event.
Pirate Invasion
The Pirate Invasion is a Hardmode event where Pirate enemies spawn and swarm the map's original spawn point. A Pirate Invasion can occur after certain conditions are met, or alternatively, when the player uses a Pirate Map, which has a 1% chance of dropping from enemies killed within an Ocean biome.
Martian Madness
Martian Madness is triggered when a Martian Probe spawns randomly and detects a player (turning from blue to red), and is then allowed to escape. The event can be prevented by avoiding the Probe, or by destroying it before it can escape.
Goblin Invasion
The Goblin Army (also known as the Goblin Invasion and the Goblin Siege) is an Event when unique Goblin enemies spawn in waves. A Goblin invasion has a random chance of occurring at any particular dawn, if the criteria stated below are met. It can also be triggered manually using a Goblin Battle Standard.
