Dance
A Look Ahead: This coming week we will be working on these lessons due to us being unable to get to them last week. Kindergarten through 2nd will explore the concepts of locomotor and non locomotor movements in dance. Students will explore this through the four seasons and creating movements for each season. 4th and 5th graders will finish creating their musical dances. Students picked a musical and song to create their own version of.
Highlights from Last Week: ALL dance classes participated in ArtsNow lessons. Each lesson was given by an ArtsNow dance teacher to demonstrate how arts integration can be used in a home room setting. Ask your dancer what they did during their lesson? What they learned from it? One thing fun about it or different? These lessons allowed NCCAE teachers to gain further knowledge about arts integration.
Reminders: Please remember if your child has dance to wear clothing that is great for moving while still keeping in mind the NCCAE dress code.
We are having a great year in dance so far and can't wait to keep it going!! Mrs. Majewski
Drama
Welcome to Drama Class with Mx. Flannery at NCCAE!
Highlights from Last Week: Last unit was "Writing in Drama Class." Ask your child about the story they read, "Keep Dancing," and how they worked in groups to write action and dialogue for scenes.
Reminders: Ask your child what they can do to earn an owl buck and help the class receive a star to earn 21 Stars for a class party. Bring a photo of yourself or of you and your family for the Drama Class wall.
General Music
Highlights from Last Week:
- Our Kindergartners learned about soft vs. loud sounds, where they can come from, and how we use volume differently on our classroom instruments. Ask your student if they liked loud music or soft music more!
- Our 1st and 2nd graders were introduced to the idea of musical patterns and ostinatos! They even got to play along to a whole song and have a performance for the class and their teacher. Great job Ms. Walker's and Ms. Downing's class! Ask your student how they felt about their first performance!
- Our 3rd Grade students got to learn all about dynamics and what they mean for music. They discovered multiple different dynamic levels, and were able to analyze a famous piece of music! Ask your student which dynamic marking they liked the best!
- Our 4th & 5th Grades took a trip back in time and learned about four different historical music periods! They were able to use their knowledge and create collages based on each historical period. Check out their great work below!
Reminders: Continue to encourage students to work towards classroom goals and rewards.
