Junior Kindergarten Information

Walled Lake Schools is excited to offer our families Junior Kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year! Junior Kindergarten will support kindergarten readiness through a play-based curriculum. Our program will cultivate academic and social-emotional learning along with opportunities for play, creativity, and social skill development.

Important Information to know:


Eligible students must turn 5 years old between June 1 - Dec. 1.


  • Commerce Elementary
  • Loon Lake Elementary
  • Meadowbrook Elementary
  • Pleasant Lake Elementary

Program Highlights

  • Full day, five days a week
  • NO COST to families of eligible students
  • Typical Grade Progression - Year 1: Junior Kindergarten, Year 2: Kindergarten
  • Same start/end times as our elementary schools
  • Follows the WLCSD 2022-2023 school year calendar
  • Prime Time Care available to students (before/after school care)
  • Bus transportation available if your child's home school is Commerce, Loon Lake, Meadowbrook, or Pleasant Lake
  • Families would need to coordinate transportation to/from school if your child's home school is not one of those schools

Enroll Online

ENROLL ONLINE: Please see below for information about the virtual enrollment process. It is important that you gather all of the required documents BEFORE beginning the online registration process. Families will be able to scan and/or take photo images of the necessary documents and email them to Walled Lake Schools Student Services Office. Finally, click on the button that says Begin Enrollment to complete the online enrollment process.

Transportation will be available for the students who attend JK at their home school. (For example, if you live in the Loon Lake attendance zone and you are enrolled for JK at Loon Lake, your child is able to ride the bus to and from school, should you live in the busing area for the school.)

If you are enrolled in a JK classroom that is not located at your home school, you are responsible for getting your child to and from school.

PrimeTime Care (Before and After School Care)

Each building has a before and after school care program (PrimeTime) available to students. If this is something you are interested in, please click on the link below for information on how to register and the rate for daily PrimeTime care.
