Joyfully Embracing Our Mission

Trust in the Lord: Our Parachute
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
~Psalm 33
Dear St. Clare School Families,
Trust is hard to earn and hard to give. Yet, we are asked to do just that every minute of every day. One of the most moving examples I've read of this trust comes from the transcript of Fr. Brendan McGuire's homily delivered to his parishioners on September 9. Fr. Brendan is the pastor at Holy Spirit Church and the Vicar General for Special Projects in the Diocese of San Jose. You will find this transcript in The Valley Catholic's October 7th edition.
May we be open to trust and may we always work to keep the trust that has been given.
PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT CONFERENCES
Thank you all for your partnership with us in the formation of your children! We are so very proud of them for their efforts, especially our 5th-8th graders who led their conferences. Let’s continue the dialog and work towards continued growth of our students and programs.
We are so grateful to Mrs. Gaby Flores and PTG Hospitality as well as the Lam Family for providing our sustenance on these days. Thank you to Miss Cherell and Miss Teresea for coordinating this week’s hospitality. We are so lucky!
FACILITIES UPDATES
Window work is underway. We can’t wait to reap the benefits of dual-panes tempered glass windows. We are so very grateful to our benefactors and to Ian Abell, Director of Facilities in the Diocese of San Jose for his guidance.
SECOND SUNDAY FAMILY MASSES | 9 A.M.
It was great to see the St. Clare School families who celebrated mass with the community at the 9 A.M. Sunday Family Mass. We hope that you can all join us each second Sunday of the month. Please contact Sr. Ann Marie if you would like to serve as lector or gift bearer. Middle school students are encouraged to sign up to altar serve or sing with the choir. Contact Chris Wemp (cwemp@dsj.org) if you would like to join the Family Mass Choir.
MATH CLUB OFF TO A GREAT START!
Stay tuned for more communications to sign up and join the first St. Clare School Math Club. Girls and boys in grades 6-8 who want to deepen and challenge their knowledge, apply math skills to real life and practice engineering and technology skills will want to be involved. The commitment is once a week after school. First official club session is Friday, Nov. 2 from 3:15-4:15. Location TBD.
HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS
Calling all ghouls and goblins, princesses and superheroes! Our Halloween Party Planning is underway. On October 31, after lunch, students may change into appropriate costumes and join the parade on Washington Street. After the parade, students in TK-5 will celebrate with a party and students in Grades 6-8 will enjoy a Middle School dance. It’ll be a thriller of a day!
OPEN HOUSE, NOV. 8
Invite families with school-age students to celebrate our beloved school. There will be art activities in MakerSpace, science experiments in the science lab and a variety of work displayed in classrooms. Interact with other school families and ask students to show you how they learn using iPads. Learn about our CKZ extended care program. Doors open to all from 4-6 P.M.
SCRIP IS WAITING FOR YOU!
Plan your holiday giving using SCRIP. It’s an easy way to support the school. We have Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Game Stop, Amazon, Target, department stores, specialty stores, grocery stores and gas cards. If you shop, stop by the office first!

Calling all International Chefs!
The 5th annual Multicultural Dinner is coming to St. Clare on Friday November 16th! Last year's event was at capacity and our planning team is working on new ideas. If you would like to serve this event by cooking your favorite cultural dish to share on this evening, please reserve a spot by emailing Sigrid Jacobsen, sigridmike@hotmail.com. Families are asked to provide 100 (small) servings of their dish and receive service hours for all time spent shopping, preparing, cooking, and serving. This is a wonderful way to get service hours from your home, doing what you love. More details to follow!
