Superintendent's Update 12-7-21
TCPS Actualización 12-17-2021

Dear TCPS Families,

As we approach our holiday break, I want to thank everyone for their support of our efforts to keep our students safely in school. I am grateful to our health care partners, especially our Health Department School Nurses for their tireless efforts in managing COVD-19 cases and quarantines. I also want to thank all of the staff in our school buildings for their steadfast efforts to ensure that our children are able to continue their learning through these challenges. And lastly, I would especially like to thank our students and families for their cooperation and flexibility when necessary.

I know we all expected that COVID-19 to be in our rearview mirror long before now, but I am truly proud of the way that we as a community have worked together to navigate this “new normal.” I ask that we remain vigilant throughout the holidays, while our county remains at “High” risk of community transmission of COVID-19.

The State Department of Education has presented three “off ramping” scenarios as opportunities to eliminate the mask requirement in schools if approved by the legislative committee. As I see it, we need to continue to follow the CDC recommendations and all precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Also, should your child be exposed to the virus and asked to quarantine, remember that we do now have our “test to stay” option so that students who do not experience symptoms can be tested at school in order to remain.

Have a wonderful weekend!

TCPS JOB OPENINGS!

Bullying and cyberbullying, harassment and intimidation, hazing, and/or bias behaviors are unsafe behaviors that do not reflect respect for others as defined by Policy 10.16 on STUDENT CONDUCT – BULLYING, HARASSMENT OR INTIMIDATION . If a student is a target of one of these behaviors, you can report it using the Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation Reporting Form (linked below).

The form is also available at all schools, in the main office and the school’s counseling office. Students can also report issues directly to a staff member. When a situation that involves any of these behaviors is reported, staff members will respond quickly and will provide a practical, private, and safe place to report.
