We need some help to make sure our student pick up and drop off times are safe! I have visiting classrooms along with our crossing guards to share the message of using crosswalks and talking to students about our safety procedures at the beginning and end of day. We need all of our Emerson families to help as well!

Our buses operate at Emerson from 8:15 to 8:35 a.m. and from 3:00 to 3:35 p.m. We are asking that if you are dropping off or picking up, that students use Pine Street and reinforce our message of USING CROSSWALKS for safe crossing. The crosswalk near Emerson Street should be used if students exit the vehicle on the west side of Pine Street. (A reminder that students should always exit the vehicle toward the sidewalk regardless of which side of the street they exit the vehicle.) We also have two crosswalks within our bus loop that can be used for crossing. This is the reason we are asking that personal vehicles use Pine Street for student drop off and pick up and not our bus lane. Thank you for understanding the importance of keeping all of our kids safe while motor vehicles are in the area.

Our teachers are currently preparing informational videos that will be sent home next week, explaining curriculum information as well as ways our teachers can answer any questions you might have. Those videos will also be posted the Emerson YouTube page.

We had a lot of fun this week with our Start with Hello spirit and learning week. Thank you Ms. Jamie and Mrs. Cox for taking on the leadership and supporting all of Emerson with learning about taking care of ourselves and one another. Our Emerson Tigers are truly special! Thank you for sending us such wonderful kids.

Human growth and development will be taught each year during 5-6th grade. These lessons will be taught at Emerson in December.

Families are invited to attend a presentation to learn about the health standards, activities and resources that will be used to teach each of the topics, and the opt-out process. Please see details below.

If you plan to attend the presentation, please complete this online form to let us know you plan to attend. The purpose of the form is gauge the number of families that will attend and communicate with families about any changes in venue or times that may occur.

Those who are unable to attend the district presentations may review the lessons posted by clicking here. Due to copyright restrictions, we are required to post the links to the entire lessons as they were developed. Please know that some components of the lessons (example: homework-related activities for integrated learning and family homework) will not be taught.

The lessons and resources are also available for review from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (or by appointment) at Teaching and Learning Services at the Resource and Service Center (1601 Avenue D in Snohomish). A video that will be used for the lessons is available for viewing at the district presentation and at Teaching and Learning. If your student is currently in grades K-3 and you are interested in your student receiving highly capable services to include learning opportunities with more depth, complexity, and acceleration in the classroom please be aware of the following information. Students currently identified for highly capable K-3 services do not need to go through the K-3 referral process.

Referral packets for the K-3 highly capable program are available in all elementary schools, and on the Snohomish School District websites in English, Spanish and Russian. The completed referral packet is due Wednesday, October 27 and can be turned in at your home school or the Snohomish School District office (drop box located by the main entrance) located at 1601 Avenue D, Snohomish, WA 98290.
