A Note from Dr. Hanson, Superintendent

Hello NPPS Families,

It doesn’t seem possible a month has gone by since our last briefing, and so many things have changed. In one month, the dynamics of how we are teaching our students, socializing, and buying our groceries are all different.

I would like to start by stating how grateful I am of our students and families for your patience and understanding as we transition to remote learning. Your willingness to practice social distancing and follow guidelines that were not a consideration a few short weeks ago reinforces the strength and resilience of our community.

Our teachers and administrators have made me so proud to be an NPPSD Bulldog. The amount of thought and consideration that has gone into providing educational services to our students is immeasurable. Our team is ready for this next step and excited to lead our students through these unchartered waters. Please reach out to your teachers or principals if you need assistance or have questions.

In this briefing, please find resources for remote learning, food services, COVID-19 updates, as well as tips for talking with your students and family resources through this everchanging time.

Best Regards,

Dr. Ron Hanson, Superintendent

Special Education

The North Platte Public Schools special ed department is offering an array of services based on the services provided and the individual needs of the child. Special education case managers have been busy consulting teams and calling parents to arrange remote learning plans for students on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The teachers and providers have been very creative in coming up with great ideas to meet student needs.

The North Platte Public Schools preschool teachers have developed a remote learning plan for preschool students that can be accessed here: Link to Preschool Remote Learning Plan. Since preschool is very hand-on, the teachers have worked together to develop hands-on packets for students that can be picked up at the school each week. They will have activities in these packets as well as manipulatives. Each week, the teachers will center their ideas around a different theme. The preschool teachers will also be interacting with students via technology using the two online platforms See-Saw and Zoom. The online tools are optional but will allow the students to interact with each other as well.
