Bacillus Subtilis
The Helpful Bacteria
How can they help us?
Bacillus Subtilis is a type of bacteria that prevents some diseases such as diarrhea and are very common. They help humans digest foods. They are usually helpful but in rare cases, they can be harmful to humans probably because they can be easily mutated. They were popular globally before antibiotics were discovered to help gastrointestinal (defined in "where can we find them") and urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra) diseases.
Where can we find them?
Bacillus Subtilis can be found in the air, water, soil, and decomposing plants. They can also be found in the gastrointestinal tract, or intestines and stomach of some animals.
How can we keep them healthy and what they eat
Bacillus subtilis usually feed on the sugars that plant roots release and the carbon of dead plant cells. We can easily keep them healthy by eating foods with sugar (which we eat every day!).
They Can't Be Helpful! They're Bacteria!
This is NOT true. It may seem like a fantasy and unbelievable because everybody says that bacteria is bad for us, right? It can be, but that is definitely NOT 100% true. In this case, Bacillus Subtilis is just one of the many — maybe hundreds — of these great helpful bacteria that just aren’t recognized just because of what they are classified as by scientists.
