The first licence for the sale of alcoholic liquor in Australia was issued in 1792 to Captain Essex Henry Bond and First Officer Thomas Reibey of the Royal Admiral.
For women it was extremely normally to not see any women in the pubs. during this time there was a separate part of pubs that had a dining hall kind of set up that was clean, neat and tidy, which is where women were expected to be whilst the men stayed in the main drinking area. where as now it is perfectly acceptable to have women and children in pubs.

One famous building known and the inter continental was built in Melbourne in 1891 another example of older buildings is the Cromwell building, built in 1886 on Bourke street Melbourne.
