The first licence for the sale of alcoholic liquor in Australia was issued in 1792 to Captain Essex Henry Bond and First Officer Thomas Reibey of the Royal Admiral.

For women it was extremely normally to not see any women in the pubs. during this time there was a separate part of pubs that had a dining hall kind of set up that was clean, neat and tidy, which is where women were expected to be whilst the men stayed in the main drinking area. where as now it is perfectly acceptable to have women and children in pubs.

With the drinking side, Australia is known as a drinking culture, and that is the way we are portrayed in movies and tv shows. Australia has a very strong drinking culture which first started to been seen when the first fleet arrived in Australia in the 1800s.
In a lot of paintings i believe that the Australian culture is shown through rough terrain and desolate deserts and barren planes that go on for miles.
Most transport was by horse and cart which was an essential thing for farmers and everyday people trying to make a living in Australia's harsh conditions.

One famous building known and the inter continental was built in Melbourne in 1891 another example of older buildings is the Cromwell building, built in 1886 on Bourke street Melbourne.
