Conference Reminders:
- Please make sure that you have scheduled for a translator for any parent who may need assistance. Normally this is done a minimum of 10 days in advance of the meeting. See myself or Hilda to help you do this.
- Please invite me to any meeting that you feel you may need additional support in, or if we need to address behavior/attendance concerns with the family. I will do my best to attend.
- An Attendance Roster will be placed in your boxes on Monday. Please use this roster to take attendance during conferences. Highlight the student's name whose family DID NOT attend conferences. I will personally follow up with these families. We will also use this data to inform our SPSA goal during SSC.
ILP's need to be signed by me!
Please make sure that you are giving these out to all students who are receiving a 1 in ANY area, including if there are serious behaviors that are not already being addressed in a 504/IEP. An ILP needs to be given to document the concerns, and create a plan on how those concerns are going to be addressed (SMART Goal). I've decided NOT to include attendance since we already have other interventions in place to address these concerns.
An ILP is an initial form of intervention that should have a 6 - 8 week cycle even before a student is referred to COST. Please see the COST/SST flow chart attached. and here is the link to the ILP Form.
Later this month we will review how to write a SMART Goal, but in the meantime, here is a quick refresher as you write the ILP SMART Goals for conferences: https://youtu.be/aOnN1iVGMO4
Teaching Tolerance during National Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 through October 15. And while we’re grateful for teachers who respect and uplift the identities of all of their students year-round, we also appreciate heritage months that offer a special opportunity to celebrate—and center—marginalized identities. To kick off the celebration in your classroom or school, here are a few of our favorite resources for honoring, learning and teaching about Hispanic heritage.
