Dear NLMAS Families,

Spring Session II has started which means we are heading to the finish line. Thank you all for weathering the storms (literally) to be here. We hope that each day you are getting one step closer to reaching your goals and celebrating your little successes along the way.

March 21-25th was Adult Education Week. And, we celebrated the week by recognizing the four NLMAS recipients of the California Adult Education Student Succeed Awards for 2022. These four nominees all made sacrifices and overcame barriers to receive their high school diplomas and move on to higher education or rewarding careers. Please check out their stories below through the links under their pictures. We also know there are many untold stories of successes here at NLMAS and we look forward to hearing more of your stories soon.

Please continue to reach out to staff and teachers on how we can continue to make this place an inviting and enriching learning environment for you. The week of March 20th was proclaimed as Adult Education Week and would honor the teachers, administrators, classified staff, and students of adult education programs statewide for their efforts, persistence, and accomplishments.

April 6th - Minimum Day (Classes end by 12:30 pm; no evening classes.)

April 7-14 - Spring Recess (Campuses Closed)

May 3 - Red Cross Blood Drive in MPR/CTE Day at Norwalk

May 4 - PAACE Welcome Day at Cerritos College

May 8-12 - Teacher Appreciation Week!

May 10 - Day of the Teacher!

May 19 - Teacher PD 1-3 pm

May 21-27 - Classified Appreciation Week!

May 24 - Graduation Rehearsal 7-8:30 pm

Structured High School Equivalency classes have started this week on our Norwalk Campus. We're excited to offer these additional classes to prepare our learners to pass the GED or HiSET exams in English or Spanish. The classes are still open for more enrollment! Please see our counselor for information or to enroll.

During the last week of Spring Session I, the admin and the assessment team recognized all the ESL students who have made significant learning gains on their CASAS exams with surprise visits to classes with certificates. We are proud of the many students that have made one or more level gains during this school year already! Go NLMAS ESL Team!!

I am happy to be apart of the NLMAS team. I am a Southern California native. I am the mother to 3 amazing adult children and their spouses, and the grandmother to 2 beautiful granddaughters. I have 2 handsome stepsons and I can’t forget my husband, my Disneyland partner for life. I love EVERYTHING Star Wars and watching the Angels play.

I have over 25 years of experience in many facets of Pharmacy from In-Patient Hospital, Sterile Compounding, Oncology, Home Infusion, Leadership, and Academia. The greatest joy of my profession is Sterile Compounding and teaching Pharmacy to both my Pharmacy Technicians and my Pharm D students. Teaching the next generation of Pharmacy Professionals is so rewarding!

Thank you for participating in the All Student Orientation Meeting in March at our Norwalk Site. We appreciate being able to share more about all the adult school's offerings and services to both current and prospective students.
