BHMS Principal's Update 9/25/21
Club Information, COVID-19 Update
Thank you immensely for your support in helping to combat the vandalism as a result of the Tik Tok challenge, "Devious Licks". Your support and our conversation with the students have reduced the vandalism in our building. Please continue to monitor your child's social media platforms because destructive challenges like this occur on many of the platforms they use. Thank you again for all you are doing.
There are a couple of important letters going out to families for the first few weeks of October. The first is the unfortunate news that Gloucester County and the Southwest Region of the state are in Orange status (Red status being the highest) for COVID-19 transmissions. Please see the information from the superintendent below regarding vaccines and new quarantine regulations.
Among the other things in this newsletter, we have an informative video highlighting some of the clubs we do. Hopefully, your children will find a club that suits them and they are eager to get involved at BHMS.
Have a good weekend Bulldog Families
Sincerely,
Mike D'Ostilio

BHMS Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by Recognizing Contemporary Difference Makers Who Build Community Through Relationships.
Week 2...Sonia Sotomayor - United States Supreme Court Justice
Each week, during September/October we honor contemporary difference makers of Hispanic Heritage. We honor these celebrities, not because of their fame or riches, but for what they do with that fame or wealth. Specifically, we celebrate them for their philanthropy and service to others. Last week we recognized Pitbull. In week 2 we honor Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor for her children's book, Just Ask. Be Different. Be Brave. Be You. This book celebrates the differences in all of us and how people who have various medical needs or physical limitations have numerous talents that allow all of us to be bonded through a common purpose. She advocates that by establishing relationships with each other, we are stronger and more productive than when we are on our own. Justice Sotomayor is the first person of Hispanic heritage and the third woman to ever serve on the Supreme Court

Message from Ms. Braker, advisor of the running club
****Updated/Changed Information****
Looking ahead, running club will be Tuesdays and Thursdays... after school starting September 28, 2021. The club will meet in room C19. Make sure you get an updated physical in to the nurse as soon as possible so you don’t miss any runs. This year we plan to start with a time trial, similar to what you do in gym, so we can track progress. Miss Heston ran in college and will share some tips with us as well. If you have younger siblings or friends you think might want to join us, send them this email.
We will still have our monthly Sunday runs at the park, we are aiming for the second or third Sunday of each month, but we’ll have to see how that works out. I will send out info as soon as we set some dates. We also plan on doing some fundraising so we can buy shirts for the team. Any artistic peeps out there, come up with a design. Maybe a running bulldog?
That’s all for now. Look for a second email next week with some race opportunities. Read, actual races, not the virtual ones.
Take care and happy running.
