- Discuss how to reach age expectations and foster confidence in competencies that can be showcased in independent writing.
- Demonstrate how a director’s choice to portray something can be used by teachers to inspire discussions and hook pupils in.
- Develop ways to sharpen planning and consider effective ways to build teaching sequences that work.
- Establish how stories told in films can be used as scaffolds to help pupil's create their own narratives and non-fiction.
- Improve the quality of writing produced through structures that develop pupils thinking, imagination, grammar and techniques.

Rob Smith - Creator of The Literacy Shed
After a successful career as a primary school teacher, Rob Smith has been delivering CPD in the UK and abroad since 2013. Rob works closely with schools and delivers high impact conferences in order to raise standards in reading and writing through the use of film and image. During the sessions Rob explores a wealth of still and moving images which range from short films, film trailers, and adverts to documentaries, animations and extracts from Hollywood blockbusters, demonstrating techniques which staff can take away and use in school immediately.
