Senior Girls Oz Tag
Tuesday, 22 March 2022
St Benedict’s Catholic College v William Carey Christian College
Following several frustrating weeks due to weather interruptions and ground closures, the Senior Girls Oz Tag team found themselves in the unusual position of having to prepare for an actual game.
Unfortunately, over half the team were unavailable due injury, illness, complying with COVID regulations and school assessment commitments. Circumstances that are not unusual during a
season but rarely to this magnitude.
A plea for help was made and four Year 10 students offered to play to help the College field a team. By recess the team was set and two hours later we were on the bus heading to the game. Everyone just wanted to be competitive. Not only were the girls competitive they were able to play a very stylish and highly entertaining game of Oz Tag. We lead from the opening minutes until the final whistle and posted a quite resounding 7-3 victory.
The result was excellent but more importantly the teamwork and support that was evident within the group was outstanding.
Our core of experienced regulars led by example. Rileigh G , Ella N , Chloe Y Ebony W , Molly K and Georgia Q controlled the middle of the field. Their constant talk and encouragement allowed the Pia Mc , Stevie F , Libby I and Tiana O to grow into the game.
This was a true team performance.
Special mention also needs to be given to Amber Mc . Unfortunately, Amber could not play due to injury, but her coaching and support was invaluable. Listening to Amber’s positivity and encouragement during half time was fantastic. Special mention also needs to be directed to our opposition. William Carey were worthy opponents and played the game in a very positive and sporting manner.

COVID update
Just a reminder that if a student is a household contact the student is required to self-isolate for 7 days and not attend school during that time. Please inform the College so that appropriate support is provided by your child’s STRIVE Coach and class teachers.
P&F Expressions of interest.

Introducing the SBCC Mountain Trail Bike Club
St Benedict's is very proud to announce the college's first "Mountain Trail Bike Club". With the exponential growth of this sport over the last few years the college has agreed that it is time to get on board. Students who are keen riders and are interested in participating in various riding events throughout the year are encouraged to see Mr O'Donnell for some information.
The club will have a focus on involvement in group social rides, skills development and also registering for various race events including the Interschools Downhill Race event in Thredbo 2023. We already have a number of students who have expressed interest but we welcome anyone from years 7-12.
Safety in this sport is our absolute first priority so students will need to have a bike in sound mechanical condition (preferably a dual suspension bike) and safety apparel, including helmet, gloves and knee pads. We look forward to a great year of riding together.
