Cardinal News

February 7th - February 13th

Vision

At East Central Junior High we are committed to preparing students academically and socially to be self-sufficient, contributing members of the community with plans for a successful future.

Well the first week of February is behind us and what a crazy couple of weeks it has been with all of the testing and survey's we have administered. The good news is that things appear to level out in the coming weeks which should result in more uninterrupted class time.

There are a couple of items to take note of in this edition of Cardinal News:

  • First, we will be following our RTI schedule this coming Friday (Feb. 12th) . This decision was made due to the lost remediation time that happened as a result of administering the Fine Arts Assessment. This also means that we will follow the RTI schedule for two Fridays in a row before getting back on track with our normally scheduled RTI time.
  • The second thing to note is our SRI/SMI growth data. It is nice to be able to see the impact that we have made thus far in the school year and I can't wait to see what our final growth looks like on both the SRI/SMI test as well as our OCCT test. I have no doubt that we are going to turn peoples heads when they see the difference we are making.
  • The final piece that I want to call attention to is the video link below. I ran across this product and was impressed with its capabilities. We all know (or should know) that technology is playing a huge part in the education of our students and this product is one that I feel could work with our other technology pieces to aid in lesson plan development as well as with differentiation and data analysis. Please take a look and let me know what you think. There is a free subscription to this product and I would love some feedback if anyone is willing to pilot it. If I get enough feedback on the product I would definitely look into purchasing the premium subscription for next school year.

Last but not least, I hope you enjoy the pictures below of our first staff pick up basketball game. I think everyone had a great time and we found out just how out of shape we really are. The plan is to continue this on a weekly basis; however, if basketball is not your sport....we will start playing some volleyball soon.

Hope everyone has a weekend!
