Adaptations
In High Altitude
Climates in High Altitude Areas
In high altitude areas, it is bitterly cold, having under -8 degrees Celsius. While at the base of the mountain is very hot, having around 27 degrees Celsius.
The mountains also have low oxygen levels, or low carbon dioxide levels (for plants), having a high altitude. The life that lives here has to adapt to the low oxygen. There are also plants that live here that has to adapt to the low carbon dioxide levels.
Animals
Snow Leopard
Snow Leopards live in high altitude areas where it is very cold. To keep warm, they have long thick body hair. Snow Leopards also have a flexible spine which boosts their speed. They also have enlarged nasal cavities which heats inhaled cold air. These are the structural adaptations.

Andean Hillstar

Alpine Plants
Alpine Plants hug very close to the ground. This allows the Alpine Plants to protect themselves from the cold and wind. Alpine Plants comb water droplets from the clouds and acts like a sponge to keep the leaf surface moist. They do this to keep moist from the droughts. These are the behavioural adaptations of the Alpine Plants.
