Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Issue 21
A word from Mr Broom
I also attended the Teddy Bear Picnic on Thursday morning with our wonderful Nursery children. It was great to chat with so many parents while listening to the children perform some super talking stories.
When we come back after the break we've a very busy 6 weeks to Easter and Miss Mackay returns from maternity leave on 16th March.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Oops, that reminds me; flowers and chocolates needed on my way home to avoid 'the dog house!'

Plans for September in the Early Years
I'm aware that our current Nursery parents are beginning to wonder what the plans are with regard to allocation of places and hopefully I can shed some light on this. The 27 children currently in our Nursery class know our practices and routines very well. It makes sense to split them equally between two classes to aid those currently not in our school nursery who will be joining us.
Going forward, we will not be separating the children where there are two classes in a year group by age or ability. The experienced team will make informed professional decisions each year as they progress through school thinking carefully about class dynamic and relationships. Introducing children to new friends and classes helps to build resilience; a key life skill. Having had a great deal of experience in two form entry schools, this is most certainly the best strategy to follow.
I'll be posting more information nearer the time and there will be an opportunity for parents/carers to come and talk to us about the next steps we will need to take. One thing's for sure, your child will always be an individual to us and never a number. Our team are very keen to keep the small friendly community feel as we expand.
