Weekly Update
Hello Families!
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend with your students last week! Staff had a great day of learning on Monday, focusing on behavior and small group reading. We have been able to visit a lot of classrooms this week and learn alongside the students! There are some great things happening academically throughout Pathfinder. Ask your student what was their favorite thing they learned this week!
We have also enjoyed welcoming some visitors into our school! We have had several volunteers, lunch visitors, Platte County High School students have come to read to classes, and the PCHS men's choir performed for us on Friday! We have had a fun week and we hope you enjoy your families this weekend! Thanks for your support at home!

Visitors at Lunch
The Pathfinder Cafeteria is open for visitors! Please sign up in advance to eat with your child! Below are some guidelines that will help make this experience a success:
- Prior to visiting, please verify your student's lunch time and utilize the sign up to reserve your spot (1 sign up = 1 visitor seat). No more than 2 adults can sign up.
- Bring a state-issued ID to get signed in. Visitors must be listed on the student’s SISK12 account or parent permission must be received at the office prior to the visit.
- Please keep in mind that we have limited seating for visitors. Finding other arrangements for younger siblings during the lunch visit would be appreciated.
- Parents can either bring outside food or a packed lunch for their child and themselves. Parents may also purchase a lunch from school, but need to use this sign up to do that in advance.
- Parents may not go back to the classroom or recess after lunch.
- Only the child (no friends) can sit with parent during lunch.
- Outside food and drink will only be permitted if you are staying to eat with your student.
- Parents who show up for lunch without signing up will be added if there is an open spot. If not, the office can help the parent sign up for a future date.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this opportunity a success!

Hall Pass
When visitors are able to sign up to have lunch with their student, we have a specific process that will be followed. At this time, all visitors will be asked to check in with the office upon arrival at school prior to entering the school. Hall Pass Visitor Management system has been installed in all of our schools to improve overall building safety/security and visitor management. The Hall Pass Visitor Management system will:
Conduct a screening on each visitor using the sex offender registry
Will log in volunteers to track their hours
Will be used to document late arriving students.
Whenever any non-student or non-district employee requests to enter any area of the building where children are accessible, essentially beyond the front office, they will be asked to produce a government issued ID:
State driver’s license
State issued ID
Passport
US Military ID
Permanent resident card
The ID will be scanned and a badge will be given to visitors. This process is key to continuing to maintain and improve a safe and caring environment for our students and staff. A visitor’s badge needs to be worn at all times while visiting the school.

Substitutes Needed
You have most likely heard a lot about staffing shortages in schools throughout the metro area. To be as transparent as possible Pathfinder is being impacted by the shortage due to staff illness and lack of substitutes. We begin with finding coverage for classrooms as that has the greatest impact on students. At times we are needing to cancel specific content area classes (Reading Improvement, English Learning classes), or we are utilizing staff who are not directly supervising students (Library Aide, Behavior Coach, Instructional Coach). Our coverage process is on a rotating basis so that we are not continually canceling the same content areas.
The main reason we are communicating this information to you is so that you know our plan for continuing the educational process at Pathfinder. However, I do have alternative means for getting this communication out!
WE ARE IN NEED OF SUBSTITUTES! If you or you know of someone who may want to substitute in our schools please apply using the below link.
- Applicants will need to have at least 60 college credit hours
- Provide transcripts, and complete a background check.
- There will be an onboarding plan to help answer any questions you have regarding the substitution process.
- Substitutes are able to choose if they want to substitute for elementary, middle, or at the high school level. You are also able to pick the number of days that you may be available to substitute. Substitute
- Teacher pay is $105.00 a day or $14.00 an hour. A full day for a Substitute Teacher is 7.5 hours a day. If a Substitute Teacher works 6.5 hours a day they are paid the full $105.00. If a Substitute works less than 6.5 hours a day, they are paid hourly.
