Normandy Park School
Principal's Corner
Week of October 8th- October 12th
- October 8th is C Day
- October 12th: Walk-a-thon results will be announced on NPS News
This week we will be celebrating Hispanic heritage! Students will learn about the Hispanic heritage, culture, and the contributions of influential Hispanic Americans. NPS News will kick off each morning with a Spanish Word of the Day. Then, they will introduce and discuss an influential Hispanic American.
Week of Respect
At school, we reviewed the importance of respecting yourself and others. Students took a school-wide kindness pledge by signing their name (and tracing their hand!). On Thursday, students participated in the H.S.A. sponsored assembly, 3Screens: Let's Be Friends. Through real life stories, movie clips, and music, students learned the importance of countering bullying with positive action.
We ended the week with our school-wide Walk-a-thon.
Walk-a-thon
Thank you to the H.S.A. for putting together such a great culminating event for our school fundraiser! Thank you to all the families that supported the Walk-a-thon through donations and/or volunteering their time.
In addition to fundraising, the Walk-a-thon provides students a chance to celebrate the importance of community.
On Friday, students arrived dressed in blue and yellow. Our school was full of NPS Magic! Each unit had 30 minutes on the field. Students were greeted with music, parent volunteers (helping and cheering on), bubbles, and kindness signs.

In lieu of "It's Cool to Be Kind," this year we will be watching Winnie the Pooh. The film emphasizes the importance of being kind, friendships, and selflessness. It is a film that is fun for the whole family!
