Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!
November 8, 2019
From the desk of: Principal Hoese
At the conclusion of our Veterans Day assembly, the closing to my speech was something I hoped all of our students would be able to take away. Something simple, but impactful. However, I also think that it is something easy enough that each of us should do as well.
"I want to share five words that we should all remember to say each time we see someone in uniform or wearing a veteran’s hat. We should go out of our way to say these words to them, because they went out of their way to protect our freedom and keep us safe. Those five words are 'Thank you for your service.' Let’s take the opportunity now to say that to our veterans.
Veterans, thank you for your service and for spending time with our school family today. We appreciate the sacrifices you have made and wish you the best."
Take a moment this weekend to thank the veterans that you know. Sometimes we forget how easy it is to sent that text message or make that phone call. Or, find a nice restaurant that offers a special for veterans and share a meal. I'll see you Monday, Pops :)
SRO Leitzen's Tip of the Week!
From the Desk of: Counselor Mrs. Meumann
Empathy is feeling or understanding how someone else is feeling. It’s important to make sure that children understand this and that they think about how their words or actions may make others feel. They can get along better with others if they think about how their actions may affect others around them.

Full Steam Ahead in 2B!
Who knew STEAM and physics could be so much fun? The kiddos in 2B learned how to make a catapult with tongue depressors, rubberbands, and a plastic spoon. This was a great activity because we were able to explore physics AND the kiddos got to launch candy corn into the air. We used our engineering skills to actually build our catapults, and we used science to test how far the catapults flung the candy corn. Before taking their catapults home, we talked about what types of materials are appropriate for launching!
