PARCC Testing
As you are aware the state of Illinois has adopted the (PARCC) Partnership for Assessment Readiness for College and Careers to be administered in grades 3rd-8th. Monroe again chooses to complete the PARCC assessment on-line and will start the English Language Arts testing next week. Monroe will then take a break and continue the Math portion of PARCC after Spring break.
We are proud of our progress over the years and our current standing in the area. In Peoria County Monroe ranks second just behind Dunlap in overall PARCC scores, greatly outperforms all of the other feeder schools, and we look forward to continuing that success.
We could use your help to ensure students are here every day, are on time, and have had sufficient rest for testing. If you have any questions about the testing, testing schedule, or process, feel free to give me a call or contact your child’s teacher. The PARCC schedule is listed below.
Kindergarten Registration

Preschool Screening
Your child's development is measured by his/her ability to: talk, learn, behave, see, hear, and move. If your child has difficulty with the screening, a complete case study evaluation will be completed to help us make a recommendation concerning your child's needs.
The dates for Monroe's screening are April 17th and 18th. There is no charge for the screening, which is only available to residents of our school district. The screening will take about an hour.
To make an appointment for your 3 to 5 year old child, contact the Special Education Association of Peoria County office- 309-697-0880.
For children younger than age 3, please call the above number, 309-697-6360, or 888-482-4300.
Junior Achievement
We are still in need of Junior Achievement Volunteers for Kindergarten!
Junior Achievement's unique delivery system provides the training, materials, and support necessary to bolster the chances for student success. Volunteers visit classrooms just a few times throughout the semester. They share their workforce experience with kindergarten-12th grade students, all while teaching sound economic principles and reinforcing class curricula. Nine out of 10 teachers believe experiential learning is effective in getting students interested in higher education and careers.
