Teaching the Way of Jesus Christ
October 1, 2018
A Message from Our Principal
Book Fair: Thanks to Mrs. Salerno, Mrs. Bergkamp, and all the volunteers who helped make our annual book fair a great success.
Grandparents’ Day: Thanks to Father Hoa, the 4th grade, all the teachers and students, and, especially, the grandparents and parents who were able to celebrate with us.
School pictures are scheduled for Thursday, October 4. All 3K and 4K students must wear their red HFCS shirts for pictures. Kindergarten through 8thgrade is required to have their formal uniforms, with ties.
We continue to observe students who are arriving to school late. Please help us teach your child that being on time is very important. “Early is on time; on time is late.”
We are taking applications for our Robotics Team, HORNET STING. Applications are available through Dr. Shreve. We have room for 4 more students.
Peace in Christ,
Dr. John Shreve
A Note to Parents
We are beginning our seventh (7) week of school. We need you to please have your children here on time. Your children miss out on essential bell-ringer activities and announcements, and most importantly, 8am morning prayers. It is also a great life lesson to learn to be on time. We need your help with this please.
Also, we encourage parents of Early Childhood to begin transitioning from walking your children to class to dropping them off at the cafeteria. It is best for the child. The positive gain from this is that your child becomes more and more independent and this transfers to their learning.
This is a reminder that during dismissal, we will call those students whose parents / guardians are in the carline first. The students of the parents who choose to walk up to pick up children, will wait until carline is complete. We ask that you not come into the building and bypass the carline. Our goal is safety and staying in your cars is the safest way to pick up your child. We have had several parents who are not following the practice. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
Due to a constantly changing calendar, we will not be printing a full calendar this year. Please refer to the Holy Family Catholic School website calendar for all important dates. There is a printable version at that link, for your convenience. Thank you!

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend the Holy Family Community Fall Festival on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. Join us on the Hornet's Nest (the school field) for fun, bounce houses, food, college football games, a costume contest, a pumpkin carving contest, and most importantly community fellowship. Look for more information about the new school spirit shirt to kick off Fall Festival in your email this week. For more information or questions, please contact Lisa Phillips at email@example.com or Maria Orand at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donations for Fall Festival: Please help make a donation for the booths at Fall Festival. Each family is asked to give two books for the Book Walk and two prizes for BINGO. Items can be placed in the boxes located on the library stage. We also need Cake Walk donations. Baked goods will be accepted the weekend of the festival. Be sure to check the Hornet Herald for more exciting news about the Fall Festival in coming weeks.
Arts and Crafts Vendor Information and Forms: Once again, the Fall Festival will provide vendor booths. This is a chance to sell one-of-a-kind handcrafted items or promote your home business that sells goods. The cost per booth is $25. Each vendor must be up-to-date on safe environment training or attend the in-person Virtus training. Please check the school website for more information on Virtus training classes. Vendor packet forms are available at the Pastoral Center and school office. All forms for craft vendor booths are due by Friday, October 12, 2018. For more information on vendor booths, please contact Maria Orand at email@example.com.
