Peace by Deeds not Words!

Global Education Project is starting!

“Our Colourful World” is a Global Education Initiative organized by SCI Hong Kong. Selected group of students will take part in the project throughout the year. Schools taking part are selected across bandings and different regions in Hong Kong. The first part of the project, Youth Leadership Training, will begin in October.

SCI Hong Kong joined International Day of Peace Celebration - 21st of September 2014

SCI Hong Kong join Peace International Foundation to celebrate the UN International Day of Peace this year. Members of SCI took part in the opening ceremony of the peace festival and joined the peace forum and the peace concert as part of the program.

New Language Classes!

Come join our conversation classes to put your language skills to practical use! The lessons are delivered by native-speaking volunteers. All classes will take place at the SCI Office, Room 813 in Youth Square, Chai Wan. We charge 100 HKD per session. If you are interested in joining, please contact sarah.koeksal@scichina.org.hk. We look forward to welcoming you!


  • Mandarin class will take place every Monday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. (Start: 20/10/14)
  • Cantonese class will take place every Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. (Start: 21/10/14)
  • German class will take place every Thursday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. or every Saturday afternoon from 3- 5 p.m. (Start: 23/10/14)
  • English class will take place every Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. (Start: 24/10/14)

Looking for volunteers for Capacity Building Seminar!!

The program is a three-day, two night residential training. 25 participants from schools plus 5 staff members from participating schools will attend this program along with trainers and facilitators. Non-formal education methods are used in delivering this training. Activities include invisible theatre, talent show, problem tree, brainstorming and group discussions. We are looking for two local volunteers to help in the kitchen and assist in conducting the workshops with an international team. The Capacity Building Seminar will take place on the 24th to 26th of April 2015, 1st to 3rd May 2015. Contact: pat.huang@scichina.org.hk

Service Tour Exhibition: Mongolia

UST (University of Science and Technology) students organised an exhibition about their Service Tour to Mongolia. The students spent 10 days in Buhug River, near Ulan Bator, Mongolia. They worked with children and helped with organic farming. The exhibition will take place on the 10 of October. The program was coordinated by SCI Hong Kong.

Take Action for Peace!

Student Peace Clubs

Members of the Student Peace Club will take part in organizing the International Peace Week Celebrations, which take place in September of every year. Activities have included a Peace Forum and UN Concert for Peace. Meetings will take place every second Monday of the month, from 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm at the SCI Office. International Meetings

SCI Hong Kong is participating in several international meetings this season. These include the following:



  • North South Platform Meeting, 8 - 12 of October in Poland
  • Committee for Coordinating International Voluntary Service General Assembly, 15 - 21 of October in Korea
  • International Committee Meeting, 11 - 14 of December in Serbia

Peace Movie Night

Saturday, Oct. 11th 2014 at 7pm

Room 813, Youth Square, Chai Wan, Hong Kong

We would like to invite you to our Peace Movie Night! We will screen the movie "Suffering Grasses - When Elephants fight, it is the Grasses, which suffer". The movie is a documentary about the uprising in Syria. Afterwards we will have a discussion about the current situation. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Contact: louis.leung@scichina.org.hk

Life Link Student Club Meeting

To learn by doing is one of the most effective ways to learn.
