SME eBlast: 5/30/21
Important announcements from the SME Principal, PTA and AFB!
Principal Lewis' Sunday Update for the week of 5/31/21
Sunday Call for week of May 31st, 2021
Good evening Sierra Madre Families, this is Mrs. Lewis, your principal. The time has come for us to say goodbye! This will be my last Sunday call of the year, and the last week for students in the 2020-21 school year.
I'd like to extend a thank you to Dr. Jodi Marchesso, who has stepped in as my assistant principal this year! You were a great addition to SME! I also would like to say congrats to our staff members that will be leaving SME. Kris Majich(4th grade teacher), Gretchen Elm(Kinder teacher), and Debbie Henderson(school librarian). Enjoy the next journey of your life!
Here are the announcements for this week:
Monday, May 31st will be a pupil free day in honor of Memorial Day! Thank you to all of the service men and women, and their families, who have sacrificed their lives for us!
Thursday, June 3rd is our last day of school with an early dismissal of 12:15pm.
We will be holding our 5th grade car parade promotion in front of the school between 9:15am-12pm, so please DO NOT plan on picking your kiddo up early from school, as this will disrupt our car line.
Please continue to be mindful of our neighbors and stay clear of driveways, and mind traffic by using the crosswalks.

PTA Announcements
PTA would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to all of our amazing volunteers! You rock and we can't wait to see what you do in 2020-21!
Speaking of, SME PTA is already looking forward to getting back to campus in the fall with in-person classes and reconnecting with our SME community.
We need YOU to help keep our beloved events going! We are specifically looking for volunteers right now for events that take place over the summer or at the beginning of the fall.
Can you help with:
August kindergarten play date so our new kinders and their families can get to know each other and feel a part of our community?
August school-wide welcome back to school play date so we can all reconnect?
Our annual fall event?
Sierra Madre Has Talent show?
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and bring joy to our SME students. Please complete the survey to let us know how you’d like to help.
Can’t volunteer now? No problem! There will be plenty of opportunities to volunteer next school year for SME generally and PTA and AFB specifically.
If you have questions about the survey or volunteering for PTA this summer/early fall, please contact Michael Murphy at volunteers@smepta.org.
Annual Fund Boosters(AFB)
Although we didn't quite meet our goals, we are going to find ways to support SME with enrichment, supervision, and support in the Fall. Thank you for your help!

We have a number of interesting virtual services, and are slowing incorporating in-person programs throughout the summer.
