Senior Shout-Outs.
5 questions and a shout Out with Mr. Steve Searle and LVHS Senior, Colton Roach.
I had really good high school coaches and math teachers, so I kinda followed their paths. I didn't want to be in a lab in my work place, isolated from people. I love the interactions with other teachers and kids.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I love to spend time with my children and my grandchildren.
How do you feel about the up coming Baseball season?
I am very excited. We have a really good group of kids this year and we are confident in having a successful season. I cannot be more thankful for being a part of this program.
What is the most important lesson you try and teach each student that comes through your class?
How to be the type of person that others would like to emulate and be around. For me my job goes beyond hammering the quadratic formula and power rules into kids' heads. It entails helping forming the future society of America.
Shout Out from Colton:
I have been fortunate enough to have been taught by Mr. Searle for all four years of my
high school career. As you can probably tell from the answers to the questions above he is very passionate about his job as an educator and a coach. I am sure I am not the first to say it, but I feel like his classes have helped me the most in preparation for college. Though some may say his style of teaching is boring at times, I know through my experience that he does a great job in making his teaching thorough and clear. He has taught the importance of good time management and strong work ethic to both myself and my classmates. Unfortunately, I have not had the honor of having him as a coach, but I know he is very passionate about both football and baseball. It will be hard to say goodbye to Mr. Searle at the end of this school year. It has been a pleasure to have him as a teacher and a mentor.
Reminder: if your student calls or texts you about being sick, make sure they have seen the nurse first to avoid an unexcused absence.
Things you 'sneed' to know...from our counselor, Sherri Sneed:
Sophomores and Juniors will begin working on their 4-year plans/choice sheets after Spring Break. For this year, all endorsement/4-year plans will need to be approved by a parent or guardian. Only changes will require a signature in future years.
Seniors! You need to be closely monitoring your grades. Only 2 weeks until Spring Break and the rest of the year is going to fly by. Also, don’t forget to frequently check the Counselor Corner/Scholarship and Financial Aid link for updated scholarship information. http://classroom.lagovistaisd.net/default.aspx?LagoVistaHighSchoolCounselor/ScholarshipsandFinancialAid
NO SENIORITIS YET!

Add your student to the random pool by contacting Mr. Walker at justin_walker@lagovista.txed.net.
important attendance information!
3 or more unexcused absences in a 4 week period - warning letter sent home.
7 or more unexcused absences in a 6 month period - warning letter sent home and Behavior Intervention Plan meeting called with the parents, student, and assistant principal.
10 or more unexcused absences in a 6 month period - truancy charges are filed. Parent, student and school administrator will be summoned to appear in truancy court.
Our campus goal is to reach 96% attendance each day. If a student is at school at 10:15 am, we receive funding for that student for that day. If they are not, we do not receive funding. For this reason, we ask that you plan all non-medical absences from school for times after 10:15 am.
Weird, but true, attendance fact: If your student is present for any part of the school day and leaves for a medical appointment, they won't get counted absent for that day as long as they bring a note. If they are absent for the entire day for a doctor's appointment, they will be counted absent.
Thanks for your support!
