Class News

We are so excited about Fall in our classroom. The kids are enjoying collecting leaves outside that have started to change and we are using lots of fall items in our room. This coming week, we will continue our topic of Fall and add in Apples. Our centers will be full of these thematic topics, while addressing our standards. Here are some of the standards that we will be covering:
Reading- Character and Setting
Writing- Telling a story with a beginning, middle, and end and then making a book about the same story.
Math- 3D shapes- Cube, Cone, Cylinder, and Sphere
Science- Our Five Senses

Some things to be practicing at home are:
*When reading with your child, ask them about who the characters are in a story and where it takes place.
*Help your child tell stories, stretch out sounds in words, and maybe even write about things that you have done as a family.
*Let your child point things out in our environment that are in the shape of cones, cylinders, cubes, and spheres. They are welcome to share with the class things that they have found.

****Please continue to work on Letter Identification and Counting every night. Also work on Number ID through the numeral ten. We have been working on writing numerals with the help of a song on You Tube. If you would like to use it at home, search Dr. Jean's Numeral Writing Song.

Thank you for reading your child's books with them each night! They are so excited to read them to us when they come back for reading groups.

Have a wonderful week!
