ATHEN'S HISTORY
Athens is located right by the sea and was formed by an acropolis. The Athenians had ancestors called the Lonians. They had many groups in the social classes. There government was a democracy. Back then in Athens people raised crops such as wheat, barley, and olives.
MUST VISIT SPOTS
One place that is a must visit spot when you are in Athens is the Parthenon. For an amazing view of the city, you must visit the Acropolis. This massive hill overlooks Athens and is considered sacred. Another really cool place to visit is the National Archaeological Museum. It is ranked as one of the world's top ten museums. Finally, hopefully you get a chance to stop at The National Gardens. It is in the heart of Athens. It provides peace and tranquility from the busy city.
WHAT SHOULD I EAT?
Before leaving Athens you will have to try their famous spanakopita. It is made with spinach, feta cheese, and filo dough. They are also known for their amazing seafood. You have to try the calamari. They also have amazing grape leaves. The Greeks love to cook and eat.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Depending on what time of year you go to Athens, the weather may be very different. In the winters it can get as cold as around 15 degrees celsius. Jackets, boots, and scarves would be the best to wear in the winter. During summer, it gets pretty hot. Shorts, tank-tops, and comfortable shoes would be the most appropriate.
