"Join our Pack"! Spread the word to your friends and colleagues that Holly Academy's open enrollment period is now through March 1st. Current families will receive a free yearbook if a new family enrolls at HA, so spread the word to family and friends about how great it is to be a Husky!

Our new family "Meet & Greet" for prospective Y5, K, and 1st grade students is Monday, February 27th from 6:30-7:30pm. Our guests can come and meet the staff and discover what makes HA remarkable. It's great to be a Husky!

Welcome to the new semester. The semester ends today January 13th. Which means we are halfway through the year. I want to take a second to say thank you to all the people who have welcomed me as part of the family at Holly Academy. I look forward to continuing my dedication to HA's parents, students, and staff. Here are a couple of upcoming things to take note of:

  • Fun Friday Lunch on January 20th will be for the 5th graders. This is new to the 5th grade. The 5th-grade students will get the opportunity to eat together in the main gym and then when they are finished they will be allowed to have recess together.

  • Monday morning breakfast club will be changed to every other week. So we will not have a breakfast club on January 16th. We will resume on January 23rd with the 7rh grade parents volunteering to help.

Please see the link below for more information and a chance to sign up to volunteer:

  • Transition to High School Night will be on January 24th at 6pm in the auditorium. All 8th graders and parents should attend. Eighth graders who attend will receive a dress-down coupon. The homeroom with the most students present will also receive a pizza party. Snacks will be provided. If you have an 8th grader and want to know what local high schools have to offer this is your night.

  • Transition to Holly Academy Middle School is scheduled for February 8th at 6pm. This is for all 5th-grade students and parents. This will take place in the auditorium. It will consist of a slideshow with what HA has to offer. The students will participate in a middle school tour and have a Q&A. Fifth-grade students attending will receive a dress-down coupon.

NWEA testing begins January 17th and runs through February 3rd. We are excited to see student growth at this point in the school year. I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the teachers for their hard work and the positive preparation they are providing students for the upcoming tests. A huge thank you to Mrs. Bunka, Mrs. Nabozny, and Mrs. Craven for taking the lead as our proctors, and spending hours to ensure these next three weeks of testing unfold seamlessly. Please look for communication from your child's classroom teacher regarding testing dates. You can help your student by encouraging them to do their best and ensuring they get the proper rest the night before and a healthy breakfast the day of testing.

Holly Academy will be hosting its annual spelling bee for 3rd through 8th grade on February 9th during the school day. Students can come to the office starting January 17th to pick up the words. Hope to see lots of students participate.

Have a great weekend!

Science Fun

Mrs. Price would like to send a huge thank you to Heather Dawson, parent of one of our 6th-grade students, for securing sea lamprey specimens for students to dissect from the University of Michigan-Flint Department of Natural Sciences. Mrs. Dawson's knowledge and expertise about sea lamprey provided an exceptional educational experience. Without her and the donations from the University of Michigan Flint Department of Natural Sciences, the 6th graders would not have been able to complete the dissection just before break as part of the life science curriculum. Special thanks are also owed to our brave parent volunteers willing to assist in the sea dissection. Here are some pictures from their experience.
