A Weekly Look at Grant Elementary School & the Grant PTA
Week of February 4, 2019
Principal's Message:
Outdoor Education and Field Trips at Grant
Later in the week, our fourth-grade classes will travel to the Coloma Outdoor Discovery School for their first annual Gold Rush overnight! Coloma, California is where gold was first discovered in 1848. This program is designed especially for fourth-graders and integrates California Content and Common Core Standards. The goal of this experience is to celebrate the culture, music, and folklore of the California Gold Rush while using lessons of the past to awaken students' interest and sense of responsibility for the environment.
We are very proud of the experiential learning opportunities we provide for our students through many different field trips and recognize the value of taking our students to explore the world through hands-on learning experiences.
Many more pictures to come upon their return!
Grant Wish Board, 2/4-2/8
By this time in the school year, classroom supplies are running low. You can help replenish! In the coming days, Grant staff will write their wishes on a Shamrock. You'll see them posted on a Wish Board near the office. If you want to help, take a shamrock, fulfill the wish and drop the item in the Grant office. Thank you for making wishes come true!

Grant Gala Auction Help Needed!
If you're able to donate to the cause, we would appreciate it so much. Here's a letter from our auction team:
Dear Friends of Grant Elementary School,
We are proud to be celebrating our 58th year of Excellence in Education.
On April 6th, 2019, the Grant PTA will be holding our 24th annual auction and dinner fundraiser, our largest event of the year! Despite the fiscal challenges schools are facing, the PTA is committed to providing our students with the tools they need to succeed. Their involvement benefits every student by giving them access to new science equipment, library books, classroom supplies, art, music, field trips, athletics and much more.
We are reaching out to our community for support, and asking for a donation of an item, gift certificate, or an experience for our silent or live auction. Your tax-deductible donation will help us sustain quality educational programs and activities for our students. Please return the enclosed form with your donation to the school office by April 1st, 2019, or contact one of Auction Volunteers listed below to arrange pickup. You will be acknowledged in auction communications that reach over 250 families, and we welcome your promotional material to display at the event.
We recognize you are frequently called upon to donate and thank you in advance for your consideration. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
