East Albemarle News
December 2021
Grateful for small things, big things, and everything in between ...
While many of us celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday last week, giving thanks can, and should, be a daily habit! When reflecting on the past month at East, I cannot help but think of all the ways you all have supported your children and our school. You attended parent conferences and award celebrations, the Reading Around the Campfire parent night, purchased Papa John's pizza and sold doughnuts in addition to providing academic, behavioral and social emotional support at home. November is a short month when you count actual school days, but you all accomplished great things during that time!
I am very appreciative of your involvement and look forward to December being a time of continued collaboration between the staff at East Albemarle and your home. We have 14 traditional school days between Thanksgiving break and Winter break, 15 counting the Remote Learning Day on December 17th, and we are ready to make the most of those 15 days to ensure your child is most prepared for academic success in the new year!
Mini Merit Movie Event
Students who earn a total of 80 Dojo points between November 29th and December 15th will be invited to the movie event on December 16th. In addition to earning 80 Dojo points, students should not earn any office referrals during this time. Those who meet the point goal, but have an office referral will not be invited. Regular absences (excused and/or unexcused) will negatively impact a student’s ability to earn the 80 points needed to attend; mandatory quarantine absences will not penalize a student.
Students will have the opportunity to vote on the mini movie title and will enjoy movie theater popcorn and juice while wearing their jammies, if they choose to participate in the dress up spirit day!
This parent letter came home earlier this week in your child's Tuesday Folder explaining the Mini Merit Movie event. Encourage your child to meet the 80 point goal and keep track of their progress using the Class Dojo app on your phone. If you are not connected to your child's Class Dojo account, reach out to their teacher for an access code. We hope your child will earn the necessary Dojo points and an invitation to this most festive merit event!
Progress Reports - November 30th
Your child's second quarter progress report was sent home in their Tuesday Folder on November 30th. Please review the report with your child and help them set goals for the remainder of the quarter. Reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns you may have!
A December to Remember ...
We are excited to celebrate the season with a few festive spirit days during the week of December 13th! Spirit week participation is optional. If your child chooses to participate, we ask that they are still dressed in accordance to the Stanly County Schools dress code policy and appropriate for the cooler weather. The spirit week schedule is detailed below.
