Shortridge High School News and Updates
April 4th, 2021
Dear Friends,
I hope you all have been able to enjoy the Spring Break and were able to enjoy this weekend's wonderful weather and spend time with family and friends.
It has been over a year since the start of quartine. At Shortridge, our students, faculty, and families have had to shift, adapt, and transform many times, and Monday, once again, we will be shifting.
Some students are coming into Shortridge for the first time this year, joining those that have been attending for 5-days a week in-person instruction. And many students are electing to stay full virtual.
We want all our students to know that we love you, we support you, and that--
We are all Blue Devils!
Reminders and expectations for starting April 5th:
- All students (virtual or in-person) will follow this schedule
- Students and parents can access PowerSchool for student schedules, historical grades, and bus information.
- The complete Student Handbook is here.
Updates for students attending in-person instruction:
- Students must wear a mask and bring a backup--on the bus, in the halls, and in classrooms
- Keep a distance of 3-feet from each other.
- Car riders should be dropped off on Meridian Street and enter Door 13
- One-way halls on the 2nd and 3rd floor--follow the arrows and social distant floor stickers.
- Assigned seating in classes and lunchroom
- Bring a fully charged Laptop and charger every day.
- All students must leave Shortridge at 4:00 (end of the day) unless participating in competitive activities.
- No lockers--bring your backpacks with your supplies.
- Be safe, on time, and engage!
As we start the 4th quarter, it is important to continue encouraging your student to Finish Strong! There are still many opportunities to learn, grow, and improve. Please stress with your students, regardless of whether virtual or in-person, the importance of fully engaging, being on time, participating, and reaching out to their teachers if they have questions or need help.
Below you will find additional updates, celebrations, and important information from the Ridge.
Go Blue Devils!

Shortridge High School counselors will be meeting with your student individually to evaluate your transcript and help you make choices for courses next year. All Shortridge students follow the IB Curriculum but will be allowed to make elective choices related to the IB Curriculum. We encourage each of you to begin thinking of any questions regarding credits and the graduation pathways related to your graduation goals. Counselors continue to schedule student meetings through March. We encourage parents and students to contact the counseling department with any questions or concerns about your academic plan. SAT School Day -Juniors will take the SAT on April 13
Shortridge will offer the SAT School Day on April 13 to Juniors free of charge and we encourage all Juniors to be present to take this test.
By taking this test and meeting the College Ready Benchmark score of 480 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section and a score of 530 on the Math section, students can fulfill graduation pathway requirements.
So we can best plan and provide the safest testing environment for all students we ask that 100% virtual students complete this survey to confirm their attendance for the April 13 SAT School Day.

Hello, our wonderful Shortridge Parents/Guardian,
Below you find a link from the Marion County Energy Assistance Program for utility services.
Check the link out to see if you qualify parents. If you do not need any assistance, please give this information to someone that needs assistance.
Parents, I sent out our Shortridge Compact Policy form last year. I would like for every parent to please return this form to me either by mail, drop it off at the school, or email the form back to me if you have already sent in your form "KUDOS" to you. All my information is below. If you need anything or have concerns about something that I am sending out, please contact me, and I will do my best to help you.
P-EBT Cards for 2021
A change was made, and the new P-EBT cards will be issued on February 28th. Each K-12 student should receive their own card. This card should be kept as future payments will be made as long as the Federal Public Health Emergency exists. When the FPHE ends, the P-EBT ends. The school-based determines the benefit amount upon the number of days the Student participated in virtual learning, was in quarantine, or was out of school due to COVID-19 illness for at least 5 consecutive school days, or the school had a delayed start or closure for five consecutive days or more.
Future payments are scheduled:
- P-EBT eligible months/Issuance month
- October - December 2020 /February 28, 2021
- January - March 2021 /April 30, 2021
- April - June 2021/ July 31, 2021
- July – September 2021/ September 30, 2021
