Newsletter Week 2 Term 4
St Joseph's School Waipukurau 27th October 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou
A very warm welcome back to school after the long weekend. I hope everyone made the most of the glorious weather.
October is the month of Mary and each morning the students have been gathering as a whole school to celebrate a mystery and pray one decade of the rosary. As a family, you could say the Hail Mary together each evening this week.
The Hail Mary:
Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.
Next week the Senior School is off on camp to Rotarua. They have some amazing activities planned and it will be a great opportunity for the seniors to challenge themselves and learn some new skills.
Tomorrow at 9.30 am we will take part in the great New Zealand shakeout. The students will practice Stop, Drop and Hold in the event of an earthquake. Make sure you talk about what you would do as a family in the event of an earthquake and perhaps put together survival kits incase of any natural disaster. Check out the civil defense website for helpful hints https://www.civildefence.govt.nz/.
Teacher only day on the 26th of November. The staff will be having our second teacher only day to continue the work on our localised curriculum. The school will be closed for instruction on this day so please ensure you have arranged child care.
Class swimming lessons started last week. Please ensure your child/ren come prepared for swimming each week on their class's selected day. Room’s 1, 2, and 3 have swimming every Tuesday and Room’s 4, 5 and 6 every Wednesday.
We are looking at opening up our school pool in about a week's time. On these hot days, it will be nice for the students to be able to have a swim in an outdoor pool.

MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL LEADERS
Ki Ora, I am sure everyone had a great long weekend and did fun things with their friends and family.
Hopefully, everyone had a great start to the last term of the year.
We started our swimming lessons last week at the Westpac pool.
Room 6 has their school camp next week in Rotorua (so hopefully everyone will have fun). Make sure for this week and the rest of the term to keep following the school values in and out of school.

Quiz night:
Reminder we are holding this evening on Saturday 20th of November at the War Memorial Hall. Holding it at the Hall allows us to safely space tables for the evening under level 2. We still have tables available, if you have been thinking about it, snap one up before they are gone! Further details can be found below on our flyer.
Both the raffle and quiz evening are raising funds for the new playground, we always appreciate your support in helping us achieve our long-term and short-term goals for the students and school.
Have a wonderful week.
