REFLECTIONS FROM YOUR PTSA
A LOOK BACK:
- Father Daughter Dance was a special night for our young girls & their special someone. We appreciate our volunteers who make this night possible.
- First Grade Fun Night on 5/5 was a fun time for all. We will certainly continue this tradition for years to come!
- The tricycle donations that we requested on behalf of PES PE Teacher, Skip Kunecki, have been fulfilled! Thank you for all the donations; the children are already benefitting from your generosity.
- Thank you to Mary Kate Cywinski & Alice Berry for coordinating the Father Daughter Dance. Without their hard work and attention to detail, this special night could never happen.
- Our thanks to Stella's florist for providing beautiful corsages that were available for purchase for the Father Daughter Dance.
- Much appreciation to our own Leslie Mast for a successful First Grade Fun Night. She organized, set up, managed and broke down the event practically by herself!
- Our thanks to Superintendent Lynne Erdle for her presentation of the 2017-'18 school budget at our May PTSA meeting. She has been a long-time supporter of the PTSA and will be greatly missed.
LOOKING AHEAD:
- Don't forget the 2017-'18 school budget vote on Tuesday, May 16th.
- The PTSA is hosting the annual primary-elementary school Book Swap in May to promote summer reading. As always, our beginning stock of picture books is excellent, but chapter books are in shorter supply. If you have any 3-5th grade level chapter books you would like to donate for the swap, please contact us directly to arrange a drop-off. Thank you!
- Our #1 mission as a PTSA is to advocate for our students. Being involved on a governmental level is crucial to this advocacy. To learn more about current issues and how you can become involved (it's simple!), please click here for NYS PTA's homepage. To stay updated, please join their mailing list.
- A gentle reminder that if you are shopping on Amazon, you can raise funds for the PTSA through Amazon Smile. Just click the link below and use the Smile link as you normally would use Amazon and a portion of every purchase will be donated to us!
- As always, we encourage you and your family members to join and/or renew your PTSA membership. It's simple to do, only $5 per person annually and membership does NOT mean you must volunteer!

Community Reading Partnership
Help spread literacy in our community! A Volunteer Bookshelf Supervisor is needed by the Community Reading Partnership to oversee “Guardian” volunteers who stock 15 to 20 active Little Red Bookshelves in the Canandaigua area with free books.
This person should be reasonably familiar with children’s books and able to oversee the processing of books donated at locations in Canandaigua schools. The Bookshelf Supervisor sits on the Community Reading Partnership Board which meets monthly at the library.
To express interest, contact CRP President Mary Ferris, c/o Wood Library, 134 North Main St. Canandaigua, NY 14424 or email CRP at communityreadingpart@gmail.com
