PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora koutou,

This week we celebrate Support Staff week. We are fortunate to have a wonderful support staff team in our school.

In Sue (office), Pete (caretaker / groundsman) and Kerry / Michelle (cleaners) we have an awesome team that really care about the school. They work hard to keep the place ticking over and in the best shape possible.

Over the years we have increased the number of teacher aides we have in the school. We currently have six teacher aides; Hayden, Kerry, Danny, Casey, Kathy and Belinda. All bring different skills to the job that add so much to the school. They also care deeply about the school and all the people in it. Our teachers and tamariki are very lucky to have such amazing people working in these roles.

Finally, at different times throughout the year we require extra teacher aides. These are usually needed at short notice or for a short period of time. If this is something that is of interest to you please express your interest with me, either through email or come in for a quick chat.

Thumbs Up to those Parents who have already sold some First Aid Kits for Whanau & Friends.

Exploring Whanau History and Ancestors with Room 7

For the first half of Term 2, as an entry project into Aotearoa/NZ History, Room 7 have been busy researching and then making their own 'Whanau History Storytelling Trail'. The students have found out that we all have our own amazing history and stories to tell; We have ancestral and Whanau links to Rock Stars, War Heroes, Sheep Hustlers, Māori Royalty along with links to over 15 different countries around the world! Now the students have developed a clearer understanding and perspective of history and their place in it, as we go on to study the history of Aotearoa for the second half of this term. A big thank you to all whānau members for the extra help, photos and being willing interviewees.

Whānau & Friends Fundraiser

Whanau & Friends would like your support by selling these First Aid Kits as their latest Fundraiser. Order forms were distributed to the eldest in each family last week. More order forms are available from the school office.
W&F are requesting that one internet banking deposit be made for each page of orders. Please use your family name as a reference to make matching orders and payments easier. Please ensure that you use the correct bank account number which is 03-0779-0009817-000. Please return your completed orders to the school office by 20th June 2022.
