Refilling Prescriptions Through Humana
With NJSD moving to a new health carrier, Humana, there may be prescriptions you need to have refilled that your physician authorized for you before the change-over. In many cases, the prescription can be filled with no issue. In certain instances, though, there may be quantity limits or Humana may need your physician to reauthorize the type of medicine altogether. Typically, this is just a matter of your doctor getting in touch with the insurance company prior to you being at the pharmacy.
Click here for Humana’s Drug List or formulary. Before going to the pharmacy next, please review this information to see if if any of the medications you need refilled are subject to prior authorization (PA), a quantity limitation (QL) or Step Therapy (ST). If your prescription is denoted with one of these codes, then your physician's office should follow these steps:
• Obtain forms at Humana.com/PA
• Submit the request electronically by visiting Covermymeds.com/epa/Humana - OR - by fax to 877-486-2621
• Call Humana Clinical Pharmacy Review (HCPR) at 800-555-CLIN (800-555-2546) (TTY: 711) between 8 a.m – 8 p.m Eastern time, Monday - Friday, if an exception to the formulary is sought.
In the event a coverage exception is presented, the request will be reviewed, and Humana's decision will be communicated back within 24-72 hours after the request is received from the healthcare provider.
These are the same steps a doctor will go through for new medication prescriptions; fortunately, Humana is a very large presence in the market so most doctor's offices will be very familiar with what they need to do.
If you have additional questions, please contact Humana or Rebecca Frakes in the HR office.

Accessibility Features of Chromebooks Resource Available
Accessibility features are tools and settings that are designed to help people with disabilities or impairments use technology and digital content more easily. These features can include things like larger text, voice commands, screen readers, closed captioning, and specialized input devices, among other things. The goals of accessibility features are to make sure that everyone, regardless of their abilities or impairments, has equal access to technology and digital content.
We have continued to receive questions about our Chromebooks and the specific features that are available for students to use within the District and how these features support our students in the classroom. We have updated the Accessibility Features of a Chromebook resource in the NJSD Tech Hub in Canvas! This resource includes videos demonstrating how to turn on dictation, select and speak, cursor options, and next word prediction on Chromebooks. If you would like to meet with a Tech Coach or ILTS to go through any of these features, or set up a time to demonstrate them to your class or a group of students, please put in a ticket through Service Desk in Classlink and we will be happy to set up a time to meet with you!
Note: if you are getting an “Access Denied” message when clicking on the links above, please join the NJSD Tech Hub by clicking here: https://neenah.instructure.com/enroll/8EYNDH
