a note from the director
Can you believe it? Here we are at the end of the first semester! It was a wonderful first half of the 2021 - 22 school year!
We are super proud of our students who participated in the TMEA Region Bands this weekend! The concert was absolutely wonderful! Not only was it a wonderful performance but incredibly impressive when you take into consideration that the entire concert was prepared in less than two days and a total of nine hours of rehearsal time! WOW! p.s. Please don't forget to turn in your concert uniforms no later than Tuesday!
During these last few days of classes, the students will be finalizing the selection of their solo for UIL Solo & Ensemble this spring. The contest will be February 5 at Jack C. Hays High School. Piano accompaniment will start very quickly once we return from the Christmas break. For those new to UIL Solo & Ensemble at the high school level, UIL requires that almost all solos perform with a piano accompanist. The student portion of the cost of the piano accompanist is $30. We will pay the remainder of the piano accompanist fee as well as the UIL registration. More detailed information will be sent when we return in January concerning how to make payments and which students will be participating in UIL Solo & Ensemble. Feel free to ask your student if they have chosen a solo.
This week is a short week with two days of classes before we start our final exams Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The major portion of the band's final exam is the concert Tuesday evening! Make sure everyone has it on their calendar for 6 p.m. Tuesday!!
