If your child was absent on picture day, they will have their picture taken the morning of January 10th. If purchasing photos, you may send in your purchase order form along with payment and Mrs. Bradley will hold on to it for picture day or you may order online ahead of time using the following information:
- Online Ordering Info: mylifetouch.com using picture day id: EVTFG2RWX
Photo packages have been passed out to the teachers to be sent home. If you need to have your child's photo retaken, the purchased photo package should be returned and will be given to the photographer on January 10th. You may also send those in to the office ahead of time with a note saying you want to have the picture retaken. Mrs. Bradley will hold on to these so that we make sure the photo is re-taken.
Student Serving Others
In the month of November we served others in our community by:
- Collecting Pennies for Pies for Operation Wildcat - we were challenged to bring in 60 pounds and exceeded that goal by 3.5 pounds raising a total of $473.72. This money goes towards purchasing pies for Operation Wildcats Project Thanksgiving
- Collecting food for Operation Wildcat's Project Thanksgiving. We collected many boxes of food!
Way to go Wildcats!

Counselor Corner
Lessons
My whole class lessons for December will focus on perspective-taking and the concept of empathy. I explain empathy as "stepping into someone else's shoes" or feeling how someone else feels. All elementary buildings in the district will be making cards to distribute to local retirement communities to spread some holiday cheer.
Groups
My new student groups, self-control groups, and emotion detective groups are wrapping up for the year. I am looking forward to continuing to meet with new students throughout the year and will start my next round of small groups in the new year.
Feedback
Click on this GoogleForm to provide feedback for my school counseling program so I can make it fit the needs of your students.
As always, please feel free to reach out with questions!
Mechanicsburg Area School District is privileged to offer a weekend food distribution program for families in need. The purpose of the program is to provide non-perishable, vitamin-fortified, and easy to prepare foods to children at times when school resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Bags will include two breakfasts, two meals, and two snacks. The program is free of charge.
If your family is interested in receiving weekend food bags, please complete this form once for each school-aged child in your family.
Please reach out to our Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Mandia with any questions.
News from the Health Room - Mrs. Henson & Mrs. Kleinfelter
As we enter into cold and flu season, there are some things you can do to help your child’s immune system function at its best:
· Getting enough sleep - A regular bedtime and a predictable evening routine goes a long way in helping your child stay healthy and continue to be well rested for learning.
· Maintaining a healthy diet - Eating fresh fruits and vegetables will help to boost their natural immune system.
· Managing stress - The school year can be challenging for everyone. Watch for any signs that your child may be struggling. Be sure to keep the lines of communication open and listen to their concerns and fears. A few suggestions on how to decompress stress levels are: taking a walk, playing outside, physical exercise, board games, reading, color or draw. Consider de-stressing together as a family… and make time to laugh.
· Be aware, even with preventive measures, most children will get anywhere from 6-8 colds per year, as their immune systems are still developing. It is important to keep immunizations up to date and to maintain well child visits as recommended by your physician.
· Washing hands frequently continues to be important…whether at school or at home.
